Talking Just bought a 2008 Touring Z & love it

I'm 56 years old and feel like a teenager driving my Z with the MT-6sp!!! I love this car and the color, Carbon Silver Metallic. I can't wait tilll I hit the recommended 1200 mile break-in period, (have 800 miles on it). It's so hard to keep it under 4K RPM & have occasionally gone over it. Just washed & waxed it yesterday... it was fun & not work. Then enjoyed a few beers looking at it. I'm thinking of changing the oil at 1K miles. How easy/hard is it to do on your own since the Z sits so low?

Congrats and welcome to the club!

My car is lower than factory and I only jack up the passenger side. I just find it a little time consuming since you have to take off the plastic cover with 51996 screws. Other than that, it's like any other car.

Snap some pics for us!

Just did my own oil change for the first time yesterday. The longest part of the whole thing was removing 14 of those underbody diffuser bolt screws. It's pretty easy access after that.

Congrats, just search for the DIY oil change, you will enjoy it, a little harder than other vehicles because you have to remove about 15 bolts for the plastic cover but other than that its easy and fun!

Posting pix (from your computer):

1) Hit "Post Reply" or "Go advanced"

2) Under additional options, hit "manage attachments"

3) Hit "Browse" and find picture on your computer you want to post.

4) Hit open picture

5) Hit "upload"

6) You can upload up to 5 pix. (Some pix may be to large and you have to reduce; I generally go 50% because it is easy with Windows).

7) Close "Manage Attachments"

8) Hit "Submit Reply".

I'm assuming you have Windows and photos are jpg, bmp or other format that works with "manage attachments).

Welcome. It might pay to consult your owners manual before doing much, I know it's only a simple oil change, but you wouldn't want to upset the terms of your warranty. Not sure if they are different in the US, to this end of the world.

Nice purchase. Pics would be appreciated. It's nice to get some new members over school age. It broadens the perspectives.

Thumbs up

Ramps won't cut it, 'cause the plastic bumper will rub against it. You gotta get jack stands, if you wanna DIY! I actually had to PAY for my 1st. oil chan-
ge, till I get j'stands...HATE THAT!!! BTW!!!: Are aluminum j'stands stronger
that steel ones??? They're SO much more expensive!, I was flabbergasted'o
when I saw the price on the aluminum ones!!!--they ARE much lighter, of
course. (59-year-old Zed fan).
