Default 2003 Z Clutch smell

Hello, I am a new Z owner, just bought it 2 months ago.

I have a stupid question, but I see lots of them here so I dont feel bad posting.

I have been slowly learning the sports car feel (I previously owned a lifted truck with a stick & a 1972 Dodge Charger that is meant to go straight only)

I was fooling around yesterday trying to do some burnouts and dummy me started the donut in first and tried to shift into second with my rpm's at probably the 5K-6k range... second did not engage and the clutch smell was bad...learned my lesson...

Today when driving it I still notice that clutch smell... does the smell linger around for a couple of days? or did I fry it....

Everything seems fine , shifts fine, good acceleration..etc...

any comments would be great!

Thanks

oh dear...............

well, to check.......drive the car in a few gear ranges and accelerate and see if the car accelerates or if the rpms go up and the car doesnt accelerate.......

thats an easy way to tell if the clutch is gone...

I do not know what you did with the clutch. But I can say that the OEM clutch flywheel is good for years of weekend drag racing.

If you gave me the car, and asked me to do burn outs and donuts, I am sure I could break it.

lol that wasn't a smart idea.
on the flip side, the smell should stay 1-2 days, 3 tops, while driving. No matter how well you use the clutch and gears, the burnt smell will stay but just ignore it it will pass. Same thing happened to me while i was learning manual, after a day of heavy stalling and bouncing, i had that burnt clutch smell for a two or so days, even though i was shifting fine afterward. Nothing you can do just drive it i'm sure it will be fine.

^ about right......

the burnt material is just sitting and bouncing around in an enclosed space (Tranny bell housing) gotta give it some time and it will go away.... at least your clutch is still good and its not gone........

no problem........sorry about the "oh dear" comment, but it seems lately we have had a lot of new owners ragging out and wrecking and posting dumb stuff and raising everyones insur premiums............

For someone like me who takes tracking the car seriously......and staying safe on the streets i sometimes find newb threads annoying and against all i believe...

hope you understand.......enjoy the z...
