Just wondering if anyone has done it and what the results were?
I'm planning on doing it with a set of Drag Radials for the strip. I figure it should cut me down to low 11s with the 150 shot and UTEC, but I'd like any input.

i would get new axles, i was pushing the luck with them on slicks and a 150 shot. honestly, i think that with those gears and drag radials you will never hook up. you need some et drags (real slicks) or you will just be spinning everywhere. i think that you would barely be able to break into the 11s with that setup. you would have plenty of power, just the traction wouldnt be there... good luck either way ryan

I'll consider the axles, but I think they'll be a "replace it when it breaks" type thing.
Just a thought but since you would probley have bad traction issues on the launch what does everyone think about locking out and not spraying first gear?
I haven't got the chance to use it yet but I bought the dynotune combo switch that you can do that with and thought it might work great on this type of setup.

you need to spray in 1st if you want a decent ET. The 1/4 mile is made in the 1st 60'.

I agree with the last part but in some cases less is more. I don't think were going to see any sub 1.40s on a Z with drag radials.
On one of our big block nitrous cars we were faced with rules that only allowed single stage plate systems and stock suspension mounting points. That wasn't so bad except that we only allowed to run M/T et drags in 26x10-15 per class rules. That year we ran a best ET of 5.46 in the 1/8th. Next season we were allowed to use a progressive controler and running the same exact setup(no refresh on motor) and ran a best of 5.39. Same max shot at 250 but delayed by an .8th from 125.
A few of you might think .07 isn't much but on a 5sec car (1/8th) it's huge.
Sorry I ramble but I honestly don't think his setup will make use of a 150shot unless he is on full slicks or makes use of some sort of delay be it a first gear lockout or something time delayed.

I suppose we'll just have to test/play with it.

I am not so sure about that HAVING to spray in 1st.
My GT made 285whp/385wtq on a 75 shot w/3.90s.
To try and preserve my tranny, clutch, and rear, I would wait until 2nd to spray. As I would be coming out of the hole at 4K on DRs and didn't want anything to break.
typically would achieve 1.7-1.9 60s and would get into the 12s on the big end.
