Dil-congrats, that was a BAD Z06...
How fast you get her up to? I touched 164mph on M-5 back when I had my GTO. THAT's scary.

Mike NT-
I hit 155 in it.
With the windows down it was an obnoxious roar, but she was still pulling..I just let off..
there were cars coming up......it was pretty smooth at that speed scary enough
I HAVE gone 180..but that was in a top speed shootout car so it was built for that speed...

Damn that's crazy!!! What freeway was it on? How many rpms were you at?

I was going on i96 East (Novi) where it splits into i696/M5 to Grand River/i275 South, and that section of M5 is a long curve and nothing but pot-holes. The sound of was terrible hearing my skinny *** tires pounding into each hole at 160+.

So since my Z obsession is back on, i'm looking at used Z's to see if I can budget 2 cars on my income. Found an 05 Enthusiast 6-speed with 8700 miles for $23k. Still not in my budget, but a hell of a deal! And of course, since now i'm obsessed again, I am seeing Z's left and right. Seen a blue Z with tint turning onto Haggerty from 8 Mile around 8:30a.m. this morning, and a black Z with an old guy cruisin on i275 south today around the same time.

That was on 696 between telegraph and orchard lake area.
It was 12:30 on Friday night so there was no traffic really...so it was safer. (I guess)
I was at the top of fifth gear..at a little over 7 grand.
I ate about an 1/8th of a tank of gas though....

Your nuts to go that fast in a turn...the fastest I have turned oin my Z was having fun with Bobby's 335 at 130

Yeah there are a few Z's in our area...I see a bunch on 275 everyday.
That is a great price, though I think enthusiasts don't have a LSD..but you can throw a quafe in anyway.

Good luck finding one.

I thought the Enthusiast has it, but the Base doesn't? The Enthusiast doesn't have VDC, but it has TC.

Interested in an '03 Enthusiast w/ a 5AT? 33k miles and stone stock except for 245/45 / 255/45 BFG KDWS tires. I've got my Z and an '02 330i and one of 'em has to go (I'd rather sell the 330i though ). $20k for the Z, $15.5k for the BMW.

That right for the 03-04s but after that, I don't know if they changed the build specs.

Hey guys,

I was coming home going South on Rochester Road on Saturday night between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. and someone in a silverstone or chrome silver Z flashed me, I flashed back,

Just wondering if it was anyone in here!

Take care all.

Yeah I know my Z's, trust me. I know I didn't post alot but i've been on here for a long time. Just wish I could have the damn thing.

Sean, no thanks honestly. I don't want to run the risk of the tire/alignment issues of the 03's (no offense obviously). Plus that 05 is a really good deal, just wish I had the cash. I am seriously on Z overload right now. Whens the next scheduled get together guys..seriously. I'll do my best to be there.

None taken man. That '05 was a seriously good deal. I paid $22 for this one last November.

No issues whatsoever on mine w/ tire wear or alignment though. I DID have issues w/ rear wear on the '01 Cobra I used to have due to the IRS needing some adjustment. Only issue this car has is the grease mark on the windows.

If you REALLY want to get into one I wouldn't rule out the '03s. You stand to knock some decent money off the purchase price.

I'm driving an 07 Trailblazer SS 2WD. Summit White, cloth interior, sunroof, Bose + 6 CD changer indash. Great car, don't want to get rid of it because I love the power and the winter reliability in MI. Just absolutely LOVE driving the Z, of the various times I have in the past. Had lots of fun with the 5AT with rev-matching mode, never driven a stick yet, don't know how i'd like it to be honest. The GTO I had before my SS was awesome in stick, each gear pulled insanely.

Oh for sure! I seen a 03 Daytona Blue in Dearborn on Ford and Telegraph, guy had 70,000 miles on it, and he wanted $18k. I said he was out of his mind. I am going to consider an 03 for sure though! I just don't think the income can justify/allow a 2nd vehicle right now. I seriously may have to wait, but damnit I don't want to! My goal would be to have it as a 2nd car, with thoughts/possibilities into turning it into a track car if nothing else. Been really wanted to get into road-course, haven't had any experience as of yet, but i'm going to two track events this month and getting a little "ride" time (not drive, unfortunately).

Alls I know is my gf took me to Vegas last year, she rented us the Z for the whole time, and I was in absolute heaven. ABSOLUTELY loved, I was wavin to other Z's, takin pictures, hell even washed it like it was my damn car! I was in the WORST mood when I had to give it back, the girl didn't even give a crap about the car, and the guy who signed us up at Hertz told me to use Regular gas (ROFLMAO). But I put premium instead.

I have pictures of the trip and I had a crappy camera too, but it was just amazing being in that car. Something about it that just gets me goin man, the interior is so "driver-oriented", it's all aggressive and the handling is amazing! Okay I need to stop lol.

TBSS
My buddy has two of them, they are great trucks!
Ditch the TB the fuel economy has got to be killing you right now
I drive my Z year round and it is a TANK in the winter...
I put 3X 80# bags of kitty litter in the back, bought some Blizzaks and I never got stuck....Not even close actually...

The Z's are awesome cars and are faster then a TB SS also.
I know I have raced my buddy's Wifes stock one alot....

Mine will be going back soon for my new one, you should look at grabbing mine
The guys call it the factory freak....she runs GOOD!

I guess the biggest issue is my SS is a lease. I started the lease in January, so i'm really almost "stuck" i'm assuming. Is yours a lease that you're turning in?

I just don't know how the Z would do year round. It's not much of a year-round car. I know the GTO surely wasn't. Had too much torque. And it's not that I utilized the rear seats always, but it was nice to have the back seat just in case with the GTO. I dunno, it's hard to say. I know the gas mileage would be amazing in the Z compared to my truck.

I get about 270 miles to the tank, it's a 22 gal tank, I usually fill up 20 gallons, it's costing me over $63 almost every time. The Z's not going to be much less but the mileage would be awesome i'm sure of it. What do you guys think?

I might have to meet up with ya sometime and check your car out! I'll be out in Novi thursday night, you gonna be busy?

Ahh...that was your's in the pics a couple pages back. LOVE those trucks. Two friends have them (one a AWD, the other 2WD). The 2wd ran 14.0s at Milan the one time he had it out IIRC. Impressive.

I hear you on the Z. It's one of the more fun cars I've owned. It could use a few improvments but, overall, I'm only missing the 'vert part of the '01 Cobra 'vert I traded on this. Biggest complaint would be the auto trans shifting. AT's never shift hard enough stock (I'm a drag racer at heart) and nearly $1k for a valvebody upgrade for these is insane when you can do one to say, a Mustang, for $100 or w/ a flash tuner.

I'm driving mine year 'round too. All about the tires. BFG KDWS and I'm good all year w/out having to swap tires. Cobra was terrible in the snow too until I got the Nittos that were on it off and a set of the KDWS on there.

Mine's averaging 20mpg on a short 3 mile drive to work. And it gets flogged regularly. 320+ miles on a 17 gal fill up.

MikeNT,

I thought you had the SS for some reason.... I think you posted in an SS thread I started.

Anyways, a buddy of mine was at one of the last meets I went up to and brought his black SS... very nice truck, and pulls pretty hard. You should come up to one of the next meets with yours and I'll see if I can get him to show up. Don't know if your truck is modded but gives you a chance to compare parts and experience. He's over on trailblazerss.com; if you're out there you may have talked to him already.
