Exclamation Belt Tension Gauge?

Any of you guys have a belt tension gauge? My A/C belt is either loose, or a little bit of oil from my (over-oiled) air filter got on it. It is squeaking.

I have since changed to a paper filter... for now.

Yes. I have a squeaky belt on the Z. Anybody have a belt tension gauge? I am reluctant to spray any 'stuff' on the belts.. running fine - just squeaking.

Do you have the DE motor? If so than it's pretty simple. Just take the stock cats off and replace with test pipes. I'm not sure about the o2 sensor and all that stuff with non-foulers or whatever. I'll probably be installing my hfc's this week.

There's a bunch of us that have done test pipe and/or hf cat installs. AJ, myself, Nick, Jeff... I think Rob too. I probably missed some people -- bad memory. Anyway, not too hard. I know AJ will work for beer!!!

Sorry no belt tensioner...

The old De motor ones are a cinch, the HR ones on the other hand are a pain in the @$$.
Be sure you have the no foulers or you'll throw yet another code.

Let me know if you need a hand guys...

The HFC install can all be done from underneath the car if you have the DE motor. It is impossible to get the top bolts out on the HR without going through the top of the engine bay. Even on the DE motor the top bolt on the cats might still be easier to get from the top.

+1 on the no-foulers

i'm about to put a set of resonated test pipes on.... and i might have an early-'04, so the code might not be a problem. but is there a good place to find the no-foulers should i need them?

the no-foulers they are from the HELP sections in autozone/murrays right? do i need 2 (1 pr test pipe) of them or 4 (2 pr test pipe), i seem to remember a thread about drilling 2 out, then screwing them into the other 2, then into the test pipes

Your best bet is to just buy them premade from one of the guys on here.
He predrills them our for you I think it was $19.00 for them shipped...

You only need 2 of them.

Rob-pm sent
Your best bet is still the extension through the top made it a ton easier.

Ok so I guess I was retarded thinking I could do my hfc install in 2 hrs.

First off, working in a single car garage sucks *****!! Secondly, working by yourself sucks even more *****. I didn't have enough room to get the car high enough, plus I made a rookie mistake thinking the body was the frame, so now i have a dent into the lower body and up into my passenger floor. F&CK

After an hour I finally managed to get all the bolts off the OEM Cats, but to realize that it won't even budge, I figured I could get enough flex in my HKS Y-Pipe to get it around the bolts, but no way in hell. I'd have to take my entire exhaust off in order to get the cats off. ghey!!

So I just bolted everything back up and said screw it, I'll call for a mod party I don't know why it was so much easier on Mike's car lol.

So I need to have a mod-party at somebody's place. AJ or Mike if you don't mind having it at your place, I'd greatly appreciate it (I'll bring the beer!). Only thing is I'd need an extra set of jack stands and possibly a floor jack.

And while we're at it, I'd like to install my Hotchkis Sways and PowerGrid endlinks. Maybe Steve or Jon can come cuz they have the experience installing it on their cars.

What weekend works best for you folks?

wow i can't believe you got all the bolts off and put it back in . yuo sure you got the 3 bolts that connects to cats from the headers off ? the cats should fall off no issues , i install my testpipe way back in the day without taking my hks exhaust off .it took my friend and i 1 and half hour for the testpipes .
swaybars should be cake to install , it took me about 80 mins for the sway bar pretty straight forward . you do not need experience man , i didn't know squat about car back then and i did it myself .

take your time bro .

I thought it was only 2 bolts connecting to the header, 2 bolts connecting to the exhaust, and 1 extra bolt holding it on.

I'm pretty sure I have to at least loosen the y-pipe, which in turn might need to loosen everything else behind it. blah.

Yeah I know i can do it, I just need an extra set of hands and the space to. Plus I planned on driving the car this Friday and Sat, and I'm busy tonight so I wanted to get it done quickly. Oh well, I guess I'll just wait a few weekends to take my time and get some help.

edit: and why the hell are you up at 4 am??

edit2: So it looks like I might have missed a bolt. Are you kidding me........ So I Don't have to take off the exhaust to get the cat out?

Rob, Rob, Rob...

There are three bolts man thats why they woiuldn't budge. The third one is WAY up there which is why going through the engine is better in my opinion.

I am always up for a mod party let me know.

Also for your sways I was there to help Steve and Johnny on there installs, as well as Jeff's. I can do it with my eyes closed at this point..

Looks like we have our first mod party of the year!

P.S. Side note the 370 has been ordered as of this morning!

Also for the nonfoulers, I thought it was easier to get the proven ones that work then make my own. Its alot more finiky process to make them work anyway. All the power to you guys if you decide to make them yourself.
