hey dude, got your pm.

Honestly I wouldn't run a 30 series tire anywhere in Michigan. I'm currently running a 40 series and I feel that the lowest I'd wanna go in detroit. Especially being on a 19in wheel which is probably expensive.

Tire width wise you're good.

Its just i have stock 18's on it now and i love the height. I want to get a thinner tire so when i put those 19's on it won't raise my car. Do you think if i go with

265/35
285/35

that my ride height will go up.

I agree with rob
30's are rubberbands man, seriously.

I think what you have there is about right, personally though I would put more rubber in the back... 295's look KILLER when your behind the car...

Also the stance looks more agressive.

What wheels are you getting??
MY G has 35 series rubber and man it is THIN I would not go thinner then that. If you get the 35's your car will have the same ride heright and your speedo will still be 100% accurate

^^ Phreak'in killer wheels. Although, I wouldn't leave them alone with my brother let alone anyone in Detroit.

I'm running 285 30 in rear & 245 35 in front.

They really aren't that bad. The rears are pretty big so the sidewall looks decent. (Not a rubberband) You just have to keep aware of pot holes. Don't hit one square on. But then again, I'm that way anyhow.

[EDIT] OK, I just looked. Maybe they are kind of rubberbands. The sidewall is about 2.5"

Default bad news. TOO LOUD for g/f.

Anyhow - here's a taste. It's a 6mb file. Give it a sec to download. .WMV file

I gave the new exhaust the g/f test yesterday. It literally hurts her ears. My g/f is the best.. if she could tolerate it, she would... so it must be pretty bad for her. Hopefully slapping the resonator on will tone it down to an acceptable level... if not.. I may have to look into the Motordyne VQ muffler to hook up.

I'm keeping it as is for the meet this weekend and to get a video of going through the 696 tunnels. After that the resonator is going on.

$2k later, I have my car back. Luckily I won $5k while I was there

No more visiting Detroit, back to Ohio for me.

Ur in bowling green? One of my best friends from undergrad is getting his phd there. I've been there a few times and haven't seen a Z. Unless you don't live on the campus.

Stock tires are 225/25/18 front, and 245/45/18 rear, right? So:

Stock front: 25.97 inches tall
265/35/19: 26.3 inches tall

Since height is only a factor of radius, your front will sit about 4mm higher.

Stock rear: 26.68 inches
285/35/19: 26.85 inches

Rear will sit about 2mm higher.

The rule of thumb is stay less than 3% in difference. In this case, 2 or 4mm is awesome. You get more variation from the tread patten from tire manufacturer to manufacturer.

I don't live on campus, I live in campus apartments a few blocks away from the campus but I don't go to school there so I'm basically never on campus. I come to Detroit quite a few times but rarely in the Z as there is usually a full carload on the way to the casino (degenerate roommates are fun).

Default Rear Brembo - parts/bolts missing?

- sorry for the duplicate post from the brakes section - can anyone local answer these questions?

I am putting together a Brembo system to replace my non-brembos. I am 'almost' to the point of install.. and now I notice this.

There are 5 holes in the back of the rear brembos. 2 Caliper bolts to the car, 1 brake line in the middle and 2 'other' holes I do not know what they are for. Can you help? I circled the questionable 'other' holes in a pic below followed by the components pic that looks to contain some bracket that isn't labeled..

1. What are the holes for.
2. What is this thing on the component pic that isn't labeled? Do I need it?

Thanks for the reply. I got the same answer in the Brake sub-forum. I'm glad to hear that they are useless . I will be using aftermarket stainless steel lines too.. so I'll fill the holes with paint or something.. lol.

Thanks!

Sweet! I love all the crying on the Viper forum. Stock Viper versus a well modified Z is a good match. Respect to both rides.
