Steve: I have a cylinder compression gage but I will be out of town for the next couple weeks. You're welcome to it at anytime.

Steve, something else you might want to try is running 10W30 weighted oil. It just a personal preference of mine, and thats the weight I run in all my vehicles (except the bike). After talking with a couple race engine builders, I dont think I will ever use anything else. Thats what I have been using since my first oil change. I will check my oil every 500 miles and let you know if I am burning oil now that I am around 18k miles.

Whats up gentlemen...

I just picked up my first Z last week, and I was looking for some like minded individuals to BS with

Being a former F body guy (99 Camaro SS), my knowledge of the Z cars is somewhat limited. I've always admired them, and when the time came to trade in the soccer mom wagon (07 Murano) I decided I really didn't need back seats anyway

I'm really new to the game, so any tips/tricks/advice you guys have for a new owner would be greatly appreciated.

It's an 08 coupe (base) with 14k on the clock. Magnetic black and a 6 speed

I've got an aftermarket head unit coming in today (thank god... I'm having Sirius withdrawls), but thus far nothing else done to it.

It's going to be a daily driver so I'm not looking for anything too wild, but what are some of the best bang for your buck mods?

Also... I need to get the windows tinted like yesterday. Can any of you recommend someone local that does good work?

Please forgive the crappy Blackberry picture... This is the only one I have so far (outside of a friend's place the night I picked it up) I haven't had an opportunity to properly clean her up and take some decent shots yet.

Travis, excellent.
HR FTW, God I LOVED mine

Base, your gonna want to upgrade the dif and get a limited slip quickly...that thing is going to have serious traction/foul weather probs. Especially if you plan on driving it in the winter...

Jeff-has awesome tint on his car I don't know where he went...

Personally I know my fav's for mods.(on two of my cars)
Test pipes exhaust and a tune really WAKES it up thats for sure....

Enjoy it!

-- Thanks AJ, long time no see. I need to get my butt down to your side of town for some of these install parties.

-- Travis

For tint I have always gone to and recommended:

Sun Shade Window Tinting
248-244-8477
550 West Maple Rd.
Troy, MI 48084

These guys use high quality film and do the job correctly (i.e. film goes up to the very top of your windows, they remove your 3rd brake light and tint the entire glass etc. etc.)... they're a little more expensive but it's worth it if you're keeping the car for a bit.

Thanks Jeff... Just called and made an appointment

Thanks for the info AJ, I just have to be careful... I don't want to do anything that is going to void my warranty.

I have heard good things about notorious tintz as well...

Travis,
When you put that on the car they will have to specifically take out your ECU and check if there is a tune or not. The tune makes your O2 sensor " malfunction" not register and is shut off. therefore you don't have a service engine soon light or anything.

It won't void the warranty

Mike K-shiffty711
He had EVERY bolt on possible, I mean pulley, headers, TP, Exhaust, ect...
he got a new TRANS at like 35K covered under warranty.

I was amazed!

Scott- you gettin new rims and tires yet for the summer?
You better if you wanna keep up with me at Hell....

Good to hear. My friend is there today getting his car done as he recently picked up a new Camaro SS. I think he's had 5 cars tinted at this place over the years and said when he pulled in this morning they were just finishing up a new ZR1.

Nice!

The price they quoted me was better than I had prepared for as well.
