You young whippersnappers.. I would not be able to do two track days back-to-back. I'll be asking if I can do 1 day at the BMW-grattan event...

Good luck fellas. Get some good video.

I talked to a couple TT driver friends and they confirmed that no shop inspection is required for NASA HPDEs. Hooray!

Reply from NASA lady:

"Hi Robert

Go online and become a member when you register for the event. On the
week-end of your first 2-day HPDE event, bring the card to Driver Info and
we will refund the $45 back to your credit card.

Lynda Royce
Chief Registrar
"

So when does everybody want to register? I get paid this weekend so I can register next week. Earlier the better in case I change my mind -_-

I plan on being at this Mid Ohio NASA event as well. HPDE 2. Hopefully I get to meet everyone! There is a free dinner Saturday night after the driving and I recommend camping at mid-ohio (its free!) with alot of people to hang with. Good times!

Man, camping seems too hardcore for me. :P I'm sure it's gonna be like 90 in late July like that.

I am debating between HPDE1 and HPDE2. I have been there once, but the first time around was one of the slowest and picked up the pace towards the end.

Definitely not a camper, I will hang out later in the evening but sleeping out is not my cup of tea

No worries. Register soon if you haven't. Mid Ohio with NASA always sells out.

I've got to make a transfer out of my business account to pay for it and an oil cooler so I'll probably register tomorrow after I visit the bank. ;/ I'm trying to talk my friend into skipping a race at VIR and coming to Mid-Ohio instead. I haven't seen him since 2005 when we were in Germany for school and I would love to see his race car.

Who wants to help install that oil cooler?

What oil cooler are you installing? I'm putting one in my car in a week or two. I plan on just buying all the parts rather than a kit. All the kits I find have -8 lines, and for an oil cooler you want -10 so there is less of a pressure drop. That is why I plan on doing it myself.

They often have extra instructors if you want someone to ride with you for a couple of sessions. The only way to get one for the entire weekend is to register in HPDE1.

Downside to HPDE1 is you HAVE to go to the download sessions after you run and stay for the entire thing. In HPDE2 you have to go but don't have to stay for the whole thing.

I'll either be following this: www.the 370z .com/diy-section-do-yourself/4616-modshack-diy-oil-cooler-scratch-built-install-lottsa-pics.html

Or getting the 25 row Z1 cooler. If I drive in the winter I suppose I'll just make a cover for the cooler... They use -10 lines in their cooler kits.

Awesome. I'll either part it together tonight/tomorrow or order the Z1 prefab and hopefully install it on like 7/10. If I go with prefab it will probably only take an hour or two on ramps. I kind-of want to put in a pressure gauge too though. I have read too many horror stories about people blowing lines.

I wanted to put it off until later but when I hit 280-290F at Gingerman in mid 70 temps I figure that I'll be in real trouble at mid-ohio with 80s-90s.

Yesterday leaving the fireworks I got up to 220F pretty fast.

+1

As always, I am open to help IF there is someone to given direction
On a side note, I think Oil Cooler might be something you might want a shop to work on. Also, are you doing this for track purposes or because of over heating stories with 370's? Either way, atleast get it checked thoroughly with a performance shop before taking it to the track.

And I assume that "download sessions" are nothing but classroom sessions after the session is complete at the track?

Lee / Rob what are you guys signing up for 1 or 2?

Yeah adding it for tracking. I'm a little concerned about driving in colder weather with it, but considering the fact that I've been doing normal driving at around 220F lately....

It should be a really easy job actually. I'm not sure how to screw it up. It's just running lines, mounting the cooler, and attaching the sandwich plate. I intend to have all pre-made lines and fittings whichever way I decide to go.

In the download sessions I guess you talk about mistakes folks made and how to correct them. At least that's how my instructor at Gingerman described them. I'll be doing HPDE1. I don't think I'm ready to drive solo yet. Don't 1&2 run together?

Yes, 1 & 2 run together.

The download sessions are the discussions about mistakes like sig11 said and introduce other techniques and or different lines to take. It is helpful, but often repetitve as I'm sure you all know.

It's so good to see so many Z guys coming out. I normally go to every Mid Ohio event that NASA does and hardly see any Z's. I hope to see/meet all you guys. I already know you Sektor. It'll be good to see you again. I don't know if I'll be on track with you guys though. I have been getting a lot of track experience lately and I think I'll be in group 3. I signed up for it this weekend at Beaverun and I hope to get signed off. The last event I did with Nasa in group 2 was horrible. I rarely got a hot lap in because the lack of point bys and being on track with first timers. Regardless, I'm excited to meet you all. You guys should check out 1010ths some time. I am doing a one day event with them at Putnam on July 2nd. Five 30 minute sessions and an hour 45 minutes open track at the end of the day for like 225. Thats a lot of time for the money. See ya soon!!

When I sign up (hopefully next week) I'll be in group 1
