Default So yeah, I'm done

Some of you have been wondering where I've been hiding the past couple months, so here it is.

My motor blew about two months ago (or at least I think I did) and haven't had the time or patience to deal with it. I was going about 60mph on the Merritt, not boosting, when all of a sudden the front of the car sounded like a bat out of hell and wouldn't accelerate. There was no smoke, no oil pouring out, and no cracks on on the block. Oil looks good, car still cranks, but it sounds awful.

I've had a few mechanics look at it and no one could give me a straight answer as to what's wrong with the block unless everything gets torn apart. So lately, I've been torn between fixing it, parting out, selling, or setting it on fire.

I think I'm done with this thing. I've decided to part it out and move on to something else, unless someone wants to buy the car as a whole and getting it fixed on their time.

PM me if you're interested.

A shame to hear you are done with the Z man. Yours was IMO by far the best looking in the north east.

Rear spoiler?

I really would like to find out some more details on it. I have seen pressure plates and clutches break and the whole engine sounds crazy. Have you done a compression/ leakdown test? How was the oil pressure?

Let me know if there is anything I can help you with.

Ed (350_Rookie) took a look at the car. Maybe he can chime in?

Well i didnt really go into deep diagnostics as it was parked at someone elses house. However we can say the chain and cams are spinning so thats out the question. The sound was hard to tell where it was coming from as it was loud as hell. BUT after a few times of crankin the motor over, it really quieted down kinda like the part that was bangin around broke off. Jon, drain the oil if you can and see if there are metal shavings in there or even peices of anything broken. Use a clean pan.

If the car was in my garage, i would do inspections everywhere but i dont want to start dissassembling things and leave it. Considering im 1 hr drive from you...

I say, drain the oil and if you find metal shavings/metal chips or any sign of damage, there goes your answer.

i've always been curious to what you do with a blown up car. Just strip parts and sell to a junk yard?

after re-reading https://my350z.com/forum/forced-indu...-my-car-1.html sucks this was the final result!

I've always said that bad luck comes in 3's. First it was the rear brake clearance issue, then came the electrical/boost issue, and now this.

However, I don't think the prior issues had anything to do with this. After the boost leak was fixed, the car was running better than before. Then one Sunday night I'm driving back home and BOOM.

Dont jump to conclusions tho. Do a compression test. Its very easy and ill even guide you through it. Check the oil. If compression is good, oil is good, then keep smiling. Maybe it really is a clutch flywheel issue, who knows. You gotta take it to a shop tho.

btw. why ever happened with that tie rod. is it fixed.

Honestly man, I was so frustrated with everything that I haven't done **** since we last spoke. Didn't want to look at, think about it, or talk about it.

Thanks everyone for your PM's, I really appreciate it. I'm may be making a few phone calls.
