Default Parking garages near Time Square

I'm considering going to NYC for the New Years Countdown and was wondering if you guys know of any safe parking garages near Time Square where I can park my car.

I'm coming down from Toronto and I've heard rumours that a lot of cars w/ Ontario plates get broken into or vandalize. Is this true

Personally wouldn't take a car you don't want damaged there at that time. Sorry that's all I can help there, but, no matter where you park it, it's going to be packed.

definitely do not go anywhere near times square or the city at all around new years. The best thing to do is park at a train station outside of the city and take a train in, or park at a ferry and take that in.

I think we'll most likely stay in Newark b/c the hotel prices in NYC are too expensive.

Is there a quick and preferably not expensive way to get back to Newark after the countdown?

Your car has a better chance of getting vandalized and/or stolen in Newark than it does in NYC. The hotel prices are cheaper for several reasons and that is one of the biggest ones. Also, you can expect to be paying way higher (expensive) than normal parking prices anywhere near Time Square on New Years Eve.

Park outside of the city for sure at a train station and just ride in from there.

Drive into Queens, park the car inside or nearby an LIRR train station and take the railroad into Penn Station.

I just went to time square and i stayed in the Holiday express in Maspeth which is not even 5 miles away from times square. They have their own parking and it was only 129 plus taxes. thats what i would do. If not i know a lot of ppl who just park in CT train station and take the train in from there.

I live on the upper west side of NYC. Your best bet would be to park around where I live (97th street). There are about 4 or 5 parking garages that will most likely have extra space for new years around my immediate (5 block) area. Also, two express trains, and 1 local train stop at 96th st so you wont have any problem getting downtown. To get to times square is only 2 stops from 96th as well on an express train.

Also OP. I have a parking spot on 110th street. Indoor, private garage. I most likely will not be around NYC on new years (either upstate or in PA). I could probably lend you my garage key for the night or weekend. Let me know.
