I really only browse Miata.net for maintenance items (I'm having an alternator or starter issue and need to replace timing belt/water pump) and suspension stuff.I just found out the radiator I purchased isn't STR legal.. so I'm not sure what I'll be doing yet. Maybe run in the Index class for SCCA and give the STR folks a heads up at UFO and see if it brings any protests? The thing is heavier than the stock one anyways..
Haven't made it to any events due to things coming up or not wanting to travel the dstance with all this rain we get *every* weekend. Hoping for good weather for the school though.

New tires/wheels.. Slowly coming together.

Finally.....our season starts tomorrow! God the car loaded up. Don't worry...the plastics are going back in. I had them out doing a few things, and didn't have time to put them back in before instructing tomorrow. Makes fitting stuff in easier. Only thing was I could fit my better jack in and had to use some small, cheapy one I had around. Oh well.
It's just the Harbor Freight. I didn't really fight with it. The little one will do fine for a day. I will give it another shot in two weeks. I don't doubt that I could get it too fit, but I lost motivation.
You better be careful as your car isnt SM2 legal. That miata driver might try the same thing. LOL!
Some people who dont know UFO probably dont understand that they are sort of an anti SCCA, anti protest environment club. Its a rarity to get protested in this group. And their points system is developed to reward those who show up for every single event. So you could finish almost last every event and win you class just by showing up every event.
I still think it makes quite a statement about the 370Z that the guy who usually sets TTOD in an all out 400 plus WHP BSP EVO protests a poorly prepared 370Z on stock suspension. I would have had a leg to stand on if SEB had got to my car this past month as UFO organizer wanted to keep me in BSP. They actually called SCCA and were told SP classing issue for 370Z hasnt even been discussed yet!
Now I'm curious can I protest him for running a ESP car in BSP? LOL!

If someone in SM2 complains because I don't have windshield wipers, I will be extremely surprised and tape them onto the window for future events.
Are you going to AAS? I may buckle down and go to their event. . . with my wipers.
I may have to put a cover over where the empty stereo is as well, if I understand the rules correctly. I do find it funny that you can add 150rwhp to the car and stay in SM2, but you must leave in the 2# wipers. Actually, a lot of the FI Zs require that the wiper fluid reservoir be removed! Tsk, tsk! And I easily meet the weight requirements with this pig.
Good luck this weekend! Let us know what you think about the A6s!
I'm surprised that UFO didn't squash the complaint about the 370 going in BSP, but squeaky wheel gets the wheel.

Though now that you mention that, I guess mine is illegal right now too, because of the open space. Maybe I'll cut some plexiglass tomorrow and try to make a nice clean filler there, would be nice to wire up a few switches there (video/data) while I'm at it.
Today was a bit of bust. Had a good time instructing a few local Z owners who came out to pop their collective cherries, but due to a complete destruction of a one off corvette power Lotus 7....the instructor free runs were cut out. Fail. I got one run...in which the seat broke...from what I heard only myself and an XP FFR cobra broke into the 39's. Can't be too upset with that, but I could have dropped a full second easy. Only issue is the rear diff is acting VERY strange and making similarly strange noises....not cool. I am going to drain the fluid and see if there is any metal in it sometime this week.
Sorry your day wasn't so good.
My day at the Autocross school at Infineon was great! Tons of runs (around 15 but I lost count) and that was with about 45 minutes down time as I scrambled to find some pasta to put in my boiling power steering fluid. Didn't find any, but McGee motorsports hooked it up with some new redline fluid in about 10 minutes. I lost time checking the fluid and finding some a place to get the new stuff put in.
Trekker Wills (organizer) said he'll probably do the event again this year. I will defintely be back. It was $75 for about 4 hours of autocrss seat time. I don't care about speeling errors as I only got 2 hours of sleep last night.
off work at 12
pack/unwind until 1:30
wake at 3:30
at infineon by 7
stay until 5pm
get home 15 minutes ago.
great day

Eh, I'll take a 10th on PAX! Woot.
On a day that I had given up and decided to not even run. Changed my mind and left at 11:30am to head to the event.
7th overall raw time, 10th on PAX, yet 6th in the Index class.

Not bad at all. I may go up to Dover, DE (Monster Mile) and run against Ridgick (sp?) in the Philly region SCCA event on the 19th. He was 2nd in his evo to Wilcox last year in NE. I'm 50/50 on whether to go. Primary reason for wanting to go....it's the site of the nearest National Tour later this year.

I can't believe on Sunday the 20th that the OSP group runs in the afternoon.
I have to drive to LA that day, so I was hoping to get an AutoX in on the way down there, but that won't work as well if I have to run at 2 pm.
Probably for the best though because I would had to have left all my bags and stuff in the parking lot while running.

Nope, they just said they'd stick me in OSP since it was a "catch all" class. Not that it really matters since I'd probably lose in whatever I ran, and I have quite a bit of suspension mods. I'd assume the closest guess would be DSP, which I think is what the G35 sedan runs in.
Most places won't let me run though. Never got to run in Dallas, only ride along with 3hree5ive0ero and the gang. But now with coilovers, my track width is greater than my height.
I ran at Marina once so far and it was in the rain. Handled great except for one sharp turn that engaged ABS big time. I think I was about 5 seconds behind ntrinsik in his G35, which I thought was pretty good.
