Thumbs up Wild West Theme Runs proposal for 2011

Any one interested in doing some Wild West theme Runs during the 2011 year. E.G.; Yosemite, Angels Camp, Jamestown, Columbia, Cherry Lake, Don Pedro, etc? I'm already getting a Castle AFB & Museum run set up, from Dublin to Atwater with as little freeway coverage as possible. Lots of curvy old State roads covering a few mountains here.

Also looking at a novice run over the Sonora pass, by the MMWtA at 9000 ft. tight 90* bends and turns and at some points 45* upward slopes and roads. Then down and ovr to Carson City. Good entertainment and dinners all over the place. Of course, this would have to be a 1 nighter.
PM if interested and please no whinners! I get those enough at work. This is also why my wife is ex...so please let me know if you are up to this and makeing a comittment to some nice tourng. Across the pass, is an excellant setting for photography with the Z and you can also do some fly fishing in crystal blue streams . This is also known as God's Country...

Great response, as you are the 1st! Working with another friend to collect the feed back (s)O if any. We tried to get responses last fall and got a lot of promises, wishes they could ans such. 4 people showed up. We went just as planned but got side tracked over in oakdale where a really nice open car show was happening.

This is the point, we tried, got started, even waited 1 hour over sart time and then felt bad on leaving start point. Still the 3 of us had a good run, saw some pretty nice cars and blew out carbon on the back stretches and had a good luch way out in the toolies of Yosemite.
This is the forwards looking expectations of these journeys. Lots of folks simply whuinned woulda, shoulda and then coulda. We at the same time said good time at the end of the day.
Looking forwards to seeing you out there. Bring a camera, your dog/s, boyfriend, girlfriend, etc.

I'll post more as this unfurls for us.

Ask the ZONC guys about my hubby...lol. We've decided he doesn't like the white knuckles.
Last run I even arranged to have him drive with someone in the back, but no go.

You might want to post this over on Driver and myG37, I know there's a few people that would respond.

Post Spring run to Yosemite

With Spring tome creaping up on us all real soon, it also means that the flatlanders will be awakening real soon as well. 19 March is a good target date to shoot towards for a simple run over to Yosemite and Glacier Point. Great photo Ops all the way!

We could meet up in
Oakdale by the Mountain Mikes & Aroco Station.
Plenty of pit stops there and the next big bend would be 108/120 turnout.
Meeting time at 0900 there

Any thoughts

Snooze & loose: Starting next month, Yosemite National Park will require Day Use Permits seven days per week for climbing the Half Dome cables.

Day Use Permits were required Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays during the 2010 summer season. However, due to high volumes of people on the cables during the non permitted days, the park is instituting the seven day requirement. This is part of a two year interim program designed to address crowding on the cables that has been occurring over the past few years.

Hiking to the top of Half Dome is one of the most popular hikes in Yosemite National Park. The iconic granite monolith, at 8,842 feet above sea level, attracts people from all over the world who attempt to climb to the summit.

There's still time to beat the onslaught of tourists and travelers to one of the mostbeautiful parks.
