Default Q: Nismo Break Pads?

Hey hey!

Had a question. I'm getting my break pads changed tomorrow... finally no more squeeking!

Question is... Should I go for the Nismo Break Pads?
I did a search, and it seems like NO one has these pads.

Any difference from stock, other than it costs more?

Steve,

The nismo pads are made by Hawk pads.

They are the HP+ model. I would recommend staying with stock for now. The HP+ stop better but they take longer to warm up. So they are mainly for use with a/x or ocassional track.

If your just going to do more or less daily driving just go wtih the stock pads, they are reaosnably priced and you should be fine.
There really is no pad that I know of that have no negative effects. I'm using the hawk HPS pads althought they do break dust less, they squeak like a mother.. for example

anyways good luck on your decision

Cool cool... I'll stick with the dusty stock pads.
I'll use the money I save to buy some wheel cleaner.
Thanks Yuichi.

Steve,

I remeber there was a company that make brake dust shields for the wheels. I'm sure they look ugly as $#!+ but if you want I can try and find the information on it.

Since its summer anyways i'm always washin my car anyways. I like to think of my rims when they are covered in brake dust as gunmetal in color, and when i clean them they are back to silver

It's cool... If they are "ugly as $#!+" I don't want them...
I wash my car all the time also, so I should think of it the same... Hmmm... Gunmetal fronts, and Silver rears?

Thanks!

Went to get my pads changed... and they told me that I also need to change the rotors because it's a Z... Quoted me around $500 for the job.
Is that normal?
Ended up not doing it. I still had 30% front and 50% rears... so it should last me up till the 30K mark.
Might as well use it till the last possible moment, since it cost a lot.

Which dealership did you go to? Its time to replace the rotors already? usually they just resurface them when they put the new pads on.

Daland Nissan in Millbrae...
According to them, it's time to replace them. Currently have 28K on my car.
He also said that I could keep going until my next service... which is at 31K.
The Sqeeking thing can't be helped unless I replace them.

I was looking at that Stoptech/Nismo bundle deal that Jason@Performance is doing. Pretty good price for some Stoptech Slotted Rotots + Stoptech Stainless Brake Lines + a set of Nismo Pads.

Anyone think this is a bad idea? My Hawk HPS are starting to squeek pretty bad now... I already took the pads off and surfaced them a little with some 100 grit ... and noticed that it looks like our rotors are made out of play dough ... couple of deep gouges in mine already, at only 11k miles!
