Default KPtechnologies Stealth Shift Light

Here's a video of the KPtechnologies Stealth Shift Light installed in a 2006 Suburu WRX.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-LgwI75_nE

These shift lights are ideal for the 350Z due to their small, stealth mount. You won't even know it's there until it's time to shift! This is acomplished by using a 3mm super-bright water clear LED.

The retail on these is $79.99 but I'm looking to see if there is enough interest to due a group buy. The group buy price would be $59.99 if we can get 20+ people interested.

If there isn't enough interest then we will offer a 10% discount instead of the group buy price.

The shift lights are availble with either a blue, red, orange, yellow or green LED. It is possible to change out the LED if you decide you want another color.

The shift light setpoint is programmable through the VDC switch. You hold the VDC button down for ~5 seconds and the system enters program mode. You then rev and hold the motor to 1/2 the desired setpoint (say 3,000 RPM for 6,000 RPM setpoint) and push the button again.

If you are interested please post up and let me know so I can decide to make a formal group buy thread!

Thank you,

As soon as the roads clear off a bit I'll shoot a video of the shiftlight in my G35. I don't have an A-pillar mount but mine is still mounted in the A-pillar. I really didn't want to drill a hole through my A-pillar so the small LED is just wedged at the very top of the A-pillar between the headliner. It's not as stealth, but it is still very hard for anyone to detect if they don't know it's there.

The LED's are small enough you can mount them almost anywhere - we've had customers put them in vents and in the cluster area and they report very good success. Just keep in mind that the closer you get them to line of sight the easier they will be to see since LEDs emit light in a very directional pattern.

With mine sandwiched between my headliner and my A-pillar I have no problems seeing it at the track, in daylight, with a helmet on.

Not sure I understand? Programmable shift light comes standard in my '07 Z?

but it's a tiny light on in the cluster, these are a lot higher intensity led that you don't have to stare at to see. There may be other advantages as well.

This one has perplexed me as well. What is the true value in having a shift light that "no one knows is there until it turns on"? I must be missing something.

I would be interested if you came out with a sequential shift light. Maybe 3 LED's.

The "typical" aftermarket shift light is big, gaudy, and typically associated with "rice".

However, for people who drag/race their car a lot there is value in a shift light, especially one you can see without taking your eyes of the road/track. The dash/cluster mounted OEM shift indicators typically aren't sufficient for race applications as you have to take your eyes away from the course to see them.

With these shift lights they are bright enough you can see them in your peripheral vision without moving your eyes away from the road in front of you, but they don't detract from the interior styling of your Z.

ya, line if sight is a big concern. a video of your placement and it on would bevery helpful to visualize that. in my mind, it seems to high. i'd mount a tube style one right above the steering wheel by the windshield.

Here's a pic:

I would imagine I could pick up a spare A-pillar for cheap now - when I first installed it back in '05 replacement parts were much harder to come by.

Here is a video of the shift light in my G35 set to 4,000 rpm. I tried to get the lens of the camera right at my eye level.
