Default Best Tire Size?

I'm going to be ordering 18" RPF1s with 9.5 front and 10.5 rear with + 15 mm offset. I've been doing my research but want to get some final opinions. I'm not afraid to roll the fenders either. What do you guys think the best tire setup would be? It is my daily driver but I love to have fun on the back roads and plan on going to some raceways. Also, any tire recommendations? Thanks for your time.

245 or 255/40-18 F
275 or 285/40-18 R

Thanks, now I get the "$1 for every time that question has been asked" award!! I can retire from my duties now!! Huzzah!!

Tire recommendations? Lessee, how many people are on this forum....? But yeah, recs will be as varied as the people here. And, a lot depends on what your full time needs are. You want an Extreme performance, 10k mile tire (if that) or an all season performance gem with a 40k warranty that will be used after 20k? These will determine best recs.

My Max Perf prefs are the name brand, lower priced but true performance grinds such as the Kumho PS91, Sumitomo HTRZ3, Bridgestone S04 Pole. And you can barely go wrong with Michelin PS/PSS.

+1 (note: do some "diggin'" here and consider the subtle differences of pairing these sizes. Profile F/R, under steer, potential fender mods, and more...)

All solid options but Mic had another geriatric moment and became "confused"...again. What he meant to post was; "...will not go wrong with Michelin PS/PSS."

No, that's right.... unless you get a really screwed up Mushylin tire, you can barely go wrong. IOW, you could go wrong but it would take something really bad to go wrong with one.

For me, all season, economical wearing, very rarely set off VDC on road, never go to track?

I can't help you there. On my Z, I run summers all year 'round here in California, sorry.

However, I really don't think you can go too far wrong with one of the big name brand all season, high performance blends... Michelin, Continental, Bridgestone, etc. I have Contis on two vehicles, one Max Perf (summer on my Benz), one A/S on our SUV (plus previous experience with the brand) and both are extremely good for what they're intended.

I run with studless snow tires during the winter months (I’m in Minnesota), and I have Contintental ExtremeContact™ DWS (Dry, Wet, And Snow) on the car - Spring, Summer and Fall. When the car was new, I ran summer-performance tires. The summer-performance tires provide noticeably better handling over all-season tires.

The big reasons I went to went to all-season tires was (1) the fact that Minnesota seasons can overlap significantly (leaving you with the wrong tire on the car when you guess wrong on the weather), and (2) quality A/S tires run more quietly and are more comfortable than summer-performance tires.

Everything is a compromise in life. And now, I’m considering going back to summer-performance tires, and for no good reason other than doing something new and different, and getting a better (stiffer) sidewall, better compound and tread, and better handling.

I get occasional snow which keeps Z at home but lots of frozen roads and grit. I don't even know if they sell ''summer high performance'' only tyres here. Must be a marketing thing. I'm wanting not to spend the huge money on Michelin Pilot SuperPowerRangerPlus whatever they are called.

If you're on a budget, Federals can hold their own. Choose your level of sticky based on model.
