Amarao,

Pep-Boys usually has Hawk HPS pads in stock. They're better than the stock pads, but still not as good as a dedicated track pad. I think it's your best option at this stage and you just have to be careful not to let them overheat. If they do, you'll get pad deposits on your rotors and they will rumble and shake like crazy when you apply the brakes. Trust me on this, I know from experience.

Joel
Let me concur with this. The my rotors got up to almost 800 degrees last PMI day and the HPS pads where not so happy about that. They are good pads, but just be very carefull to take plenty of stop times to let them cool down and dont over drive them. Thank goodness my HP+ pads go on today woo hoo.

Answer: just don't eat so much turkey that you make yourself sick! At the last PMI track day, Joel was feeling a little under the weather. This time out he'll be joining us as an instructor, so I expect he'll be in EXCELLENT health!

The wife and I will be heading down at some point in the afternoon or early evening, but unfortunately I won't know when we're leaving until she gets off work that day. When were you thinking about heading down?

Well, I'm out.

I spent the last hour trying to bleed my brakes (or, more accurately, my left rear)--apparently i've got so much air in the lines all i got was bubbles coming out of the bleeder valve--all the while burning through a pint and half of the motul fluid on one corner--$22 down the crapper.

I'm leaving on a thanksgiving trip, and won't be back until Friday night. I'll give it another go then, but I'm not optimistic.

I gave it the best i had, and failed. Hope you guys have a great time!

Are you sure you're not just getting bubbles from the fitting?

Very well could be, though I seemed to be getting good vacuum from my bleeder. But I have nothing to compare this to, so I'm really just speculating

I just ran out of time trying to learn how to do this myself

Bleeding your brakes solo may be the issue. I've heard mixed reviews about the vacuum style bleeders - it may be sucking air through the coupling. Get your neighbor to pump the pedal for you and see what happens. I suspect you don't really have any air in there.

Dave- Sorry to hear of your brake bleeding problems. Most vacuum bleeders always have some air creeping around the fitting to make bubbles (you saw this on mine). That doesn't necessarily mean your brakes aren't close to completion.

While it's disappointing not to get it right the first time, I'd suggest you seal everything up and proceed on your Thanksgiving trip. Take a deep breath and just enjoy NOT working on the car. When you get back, consider taking a fresh look at the situation.

Glad to hear you've got a good helmet that fits right! I've got to go down to Pueblo on Friday morning for work, so I won't be able to organize a caravan. Are you staying at the Wingate? If so, we're going to all meet up at 7 a.m. for breakfast, or feel free to call me when you get in.

I should mention here that it's a good idea to fuel up BEFORE you get to the track. Believe me, once we begin going to WOT, you're not going to want to stop (and don't use the MPG gauge either- your eyes will fall out).

A few of us are going to meet at the Starbucks in Castle Rock off the Founders Parkway exit and drive down. Our plan is to LEAVE there by 6 am. That should give us time to get down without pushing our luck in the constructions zones in Co. Springs, and get gassed up and be at the track by 8. If you'd like to come with us, just show up in time to leave by 6. My cell is 720-883-2868 if you want to give me a call.
It's on the east side of I25 in the King Soopers shopping center.

Mapping software and Google Maps aren't much help for the track, nor is their map. For those of you who have been to the track before, does this look about right? Exit #101 (50 West), turn left on N. Pueblo Blvd?

That's it! Now when you get to the entrance to the track, turn right off of Pueblo Blvd. and follow the paved road for about another 1.5 miles to the road race facility. It goes up and down some hills, but you'll soon see the track to your right (behind the chain link fence).

Once you go through the gates, you'll cross the track just after T8. Look for the control tower on the SW corner of the property. We'll be setting up around there.

I'll add that the entrance to the track is the very first right after you turn onto N. Pueblo Blvd. You'll go under an archway as you pass through the first gate.

Yay for bad news... >_> Checked my pads/rotor and it seems one side has seized. So I have the inside with NO pad, and the outside with over 50%

My only hope to make it on saturday is to get my car into Infiniti tomorrow morning, assuming they have the pads/rotor and can fix my caliper.

I'm crossing my fingers but I don't have a good feeling about all this.
