Any recommendations for a quality car audio installer in the LA area? I am looking to upgrade the sounds on my '03 Base-- nothing too exotic--would like to keep the head uint, but looking for better speakers, maybe an amp or two and a sub. Suggestions? Experiences? Thanks!

Creative Car Audio in Santa Fe Springs is a really good shop. The owner's name is Ryan and hes a super nice guy with years and years of experiece.
Ryan owns one on the nicest Supra's in Southern California. He also does perfomance work Custom turbos, electrical as well as audio. He really knows his stuff.
Creative is also very resonable and they do top notch work. The number is 562 623-0777.

Automotive Entertainment in Santa Monica has done installs on 5 or 6 of my cars over the years, and I've been impressed with them. On a Lexus IS 300 SportCross, they built a great system around the factory head unit and nav system that still retained the spare tire and loading area in the back (there were covers that snapped in over the amps).

They'll also be doing the system for the LA Auto Show Project Z Roadster. Talk to Mikel and tell him Scott sent you.

Go see Steve at Plattinum Audio Designs. Ever see the Polk Audio 03' Civic hatchback? Steve did that. Collect hotwheels? Ever see the blue S-10 with silver flames dropped on 20's? Its a Hot Wheels design based off his car. Steve is currently installing all my audio and video for IASCA competitions next year. His rates are VERY reasonable and hes a pro level installer. Please consider him for your audio.

Check out my old thread in which I got a sub custom built (do a search under my name and sub). You can see the quality of the sub enclosure and the quality of the amp, speakers I put in it. The place is called "Street Noyz" and the guy is Paul at (619) 260-1747.
Trust me, the custom sub enclosure alone is worth driving down to San Diego and having them install it. Paul knows his stuff. People cannot even tell it was added later and think the enclosure is from the factory even after I point it out to them. You can have him build the sub enclosure ahead of time then drive down on a Saturday and have him finish the install then.
BTW, I went with just what you are thinking of doing...all new speakers, sub but keep the old head unit. I had it that way from Jan - August. Paul kept saying my factory head unit was holding it back but I did not believe him because it already sounded great. Finally, I had him install an Eclipse head and it is a 100% improvement. I have another thread on that install so you can see the faceplate install. He dyes the plate to match the factory color of dash. Again, first class system, install, service.
