Deteria...Your thinking is backwards towards the commuter....you usually want an auto for commuting & Manual for the track.

But Let me just say that just because a car doesn't have a manual transmission, doesn't disqualify it for being a good sports car. Alot of the upper level sports cars like Ferrari & Lamborghini only have paddle shifters to shift.

I have driven both a GTR and a Ferrari with paddles and I wouldn't count out either of them. Just because you can't pop the clutch and spin your wheels doesn't disqualify it from being a good DD'er.

Nah I can't drive auto unless it's in a luxury sedan / suv. It's too boring for me. I enjoy shifting around when I drive, while being in and out of traffic. I'm not saying the GTR isn't a great sports car, but it's just not something I'd buy because they lack the driving experience of me being able to shift around and lack of a clutch pedal. I recently test drove a BMW 135i 7at DSG and I can't say I enjoyed driving it very much, even though it had a very powerful motor / shifted fast. I find my Z much more fun of a car to drive. And again, it's not like I'm racing the car so I honestly could care less how fast a car can shift.

What do you think of Auto/Manual. Ive been doing a lot of reading on how efficient they are.

I drive my 5AT in manual like 99% of the time....only I'm not pushing the clutch. In the regular "D" mode the auto shifts way too fast and you can't hear the engine rev. When you drive in auto you are in 5th gear at 40mph....good for gas and economy...but I didn't buy it for good gas mileage.

I love having the triptonic shifter...I have really adapted it to every day driving....it takes a bit of learning the cars rev'ing for down shifting and even up shifting. I can make it shift as smooth as a manual.

------

On a second note....my Diff has been delayed in getting put in.

Poor Jake has been busting his Nuts doing a lot of installs and is very heat exhuasted.....I don't blame him one bit.

I have been really patient with getting the the LSD, so a another week or two won't kill me.

Rest up Jake....and let me know when your ready to do it.

I can't believe that boy will be wrenching underneath a car in this 100+ degree weather after working a full time job. I have mad respect for him and glad he has a day to rest. Holmes go spend some time with the family and take a nap.

Just get what you find the most fun. Who cares about efficiency?

lulz..on efficiency. THe VQ35de motor is the most inefficient gas guzzling motor. If you want efficiency look at prius. I have a 6mt sedan and even if I am slower than every automatic out there. I enjoy rowing manually through all 6 gears and feel like I am doing more than just pushing the GO pedal. I have a loaner G37 currently and it has a good chunk of power and torque. The 7 speed auto is annoying and the DS mode is not any better. I would much rather have my G35 with 6mt and feel connected to my car...NO HOMO.

No clutch manual mode =/= real 6MT. It's a diff driving experience.

And again, most ppl that drive stick shift these days aren't driving it because it shifts faster. It's a completely diff feel when you got a clutch and a gearbox to shift around in.

I know after your text said that you were "passing out" I knew you'd be in sleepy land.

Good to hear that the diff is in and there seems to be no problems. We will just have to tackle that main bushing.

I have the Gasket seal in Super Blk. Rest up !

Oh yeah! But man is it a pain to clean!

I feel your pain on the heat exhaustion. I get that sometimes when detailing these cars. I always forget to take after pictures because I'm just so ready to get done and home. I know I need to eat and drink to feel better, but I just can't. Usually just lie down for a bit then take a cold shower. Made me wish I could be transported to Alaska for about a minute haha.

For sure! Your set up is awesome, just let me know when you have time to get it cleaned up. Maybe after the diff install and/or AutoX Aug. 13, in case it gets dirty?

Makes you feel good about what you do when you get kind words such as these. "I better get back to work...I just wanted to say the coils feel great. So much more confidence at the limit. Keep us posted on your car. I cant wait to see that thing back up and running. I will for sure have to see it in person."
