I'm having to resort to my own skills on the internet, crossing my fingers that MDA will accept my case for review. : {

Awesome night at Jake's. Got Emad's transmission out. Now to replace the pivot ball and get it back in. Amazing how much easier it is to drop a trans with two people. Got it all out in a couple of hours.
This is what I have to work with now.. I just have to buy some shiet first..
you have to buy some shiet?????

you have two options..........
Option 1:
Bolt extractor:

Pictures is one bolt extractor. they come in a set usually. like shown they are left hand threaded to catch in the direction of loosening a typical RH threaded bolt....which is what you have. you also have to predrill a pilot hole with a normal drill bit first to get it started.
I. measure the stuck bolt shaft diameter.. if the broken pivot ball is a 1/2" diameter then use half of that diameter and then get a pilot drill bit at largest 1/4"...so to be on the safe side, i would say get an extractor bit that calls for a a 3/16" drill bit pre-drill. that beats it by 1/16" and leaves more material to grab.
- The equation of .5 x diameter of busted bolt is a semi machinist norm so that bolt doesn't break apart in the part while trying to extract/drill it.
2. take your dammn time...pre-drill slowly, very very slowly..this should take you like 20 minutes ore more on a bolt that is taking..
- if you know what material of the broken bolt, ie Stainless steel, then use cobalt drill bit, etc...if its normal steel, then titanimum nitrate coated bit is okay. - read the instructions in the extractor bolt kit you buy, usually they tell you what bits are in there. if not prior to buying the extractor bolt kit figure this out. some kits come with plain black drill bits - weak sauce, some come with gold titanium nitrate coated bits, etc...
3. Don't forget to charge customer for the kit...lol...
OPTION 2:
1. replace the dammn tranny cover...fug dat..
2. replace the shift fork.
3. make customer by his own parts (Courtesy parts)...lol..

Done!
Have fun!

Exactly what I was going to get J... The extractor thing.. Im definitely going to try that first..... Yes the customer is aware of the possible costs.. Going to start drilling when I get home today.. checking out HF to see what they got..
Hey Jake, Craftsman also makes a bolt out.

Same idea as the easy outs but grips on the outside of the bolt shaft verses drilling the hole. I have some that will work up to a 10mm bolt diameter.
How much of the stud is sticking out of the tranny?
Call me if you want to try them and I'll swing by tonight.
Heat might also be your friend if it acts really tight!
Have you seen that before? I would think that piece would last forever other than wear on the ball?
