The old transmission came with a weak pivot ball that broke off so Nissan revised it and put it in the newer transmissions.

I don't know when the revision was, but if you have a newer transmission, it's likely that you already have the updated chromoly pivot ball in your transmission.

Your clutch wont even engage if you put the shorty in.. So please make sure you get the right one.

Yeah but I picked one with two wires because you just need power and ground. That way I just flipped the wires when they didn't work at first since I didn't know which plugs in the mirror were the ones I wanted.

So I re-tested the HFC and found the real problem. It wasn't the internals... it blew a hole in the shell.

There are some cracks around the mounting tab and a chunk of the casing missing. I can make it stop fluttering by putting my finger over the hole. Now I need to find an exhaust shop to weld it, but judging by all the small crack around the tab it may just be a temporary band-aid.

Put exhaust tape around it. Cheaper and would probably be just as good if not better since you can cover the whole thing. Kind of like putting a patch over it.

so what is the main diff in the HR and DE cats? is it just the way they mount to the header? if so, and if interested, i could sell you mine and then you could take your and have your mounts put on my cats........ just and idea, i wouldnt think it would be that expensive, or you could buy just the cat part and have a shop cut out yours and place the new one in
