I pretty much have my mind made up, but I want to pick yals brains.

I need to pick up some tires to go with my wheels, these are going to be my race tires/wheels at least 1 set anyways. The only rule is they have to have a tread ware rating of 140 or higher. Start throwing out those ideas!

Well so far my Hankook Ventus Evo V12's have been good....but I really haven't had the chance to put them to a test. They ride quiet & smooth, feel nice on cornering & have been fine in the rain.

I use nitto nt555's and love them. Grippy and cheap. A little noisy on the road but it doesn't bother me cuz of my exhaust and I always have the radio on.

I respectfully disagree. They have NO traction whatsoever. I used to drag race with these and they never hooked worth crap. The best I could pull was a 2.0. And these definitely aren't cheap (worth their price).

BTW, I thought Stephen was asking for tires he could race with, not daily tires?

If you're looking for street tires, Stephen, I suggest Bridgestone Potenza RE-11s or the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s. I don't have experience with the former, but I've always heard good things about them (and its predecessor, RE-01s). I've had PS2s and they're just amazing; nothing but good things to say about them.

I see your point. I'm in no way a tire expert and I won't claim to be. I feel that they were inexpensive at $128 a tire for 255/45-17 but I also havnt had them on a track. I'm sure part of the reason I am so happy with then is that this is the first set of new tires I've put on my z. It had potenza re960's when I bought it and they were very worn when I bought the nt555's so since it's been so long maybe I just feel like I have more dry traction during spirited driving. I do feel that the wet traction is nowhere near the potenzas but I don't think that's a big factor when your talking about track tires unless your actually going to be on a track in the rain. Just throwing this out there more as a question than a suggestion but what about nitto nt01's or something out of the hankook ventus lineup.

Yea my plan has been the RE-11's. I am racing in the Street Class of Redline next year and the only tire requirement is that the treadware is over 140, the RE-11's come in at 180, and according to many people are very very close to being an R compound. The COBB team, THMotorsports team, and many others all recommend them, and with my own personal research it is the conclusion I came to. I just wanted to pick everyone's else brain as well, never hurts.

I got in contact with Discount tire today, they are going to give me a deep discount on them BUUUT it is still going to be expensive... Just waiting for teh brakes to come in so that way I can get teh height adjusted, install the front camber, brakes, wheels, tires, give her a good wax and then get some photo's taken

Can't wait to show you guys. I have 2 events I will be posting this week too, 1 in DFW at our favorite sushi place and 1 in Houston.

Nitto makes a quality product but when it comes down to "Race Quality" I wouldn't touch them, they just dont have the grip of other tires, and the rubber is often the part that wins the race. On stock vehicles the Nitto's can be amazing, but I plan to be putting down between 4 and 500, depending on what the tires can hold and where my fastest times are and cornering. For that the RE-11's truly are a beast of a tire.

I do wish my website was as cool as Nitto's though... such a baller page...

Ya my car is used for a completely different application than yours lol so the nittos work fine for me. I realized that you said track tire but I saw other tires thrown out there so I figured it wouldn't do any harm just to throw it out there. I'd like to take my car to maybe just a drag strip since I havnt done anything like that. Makes me curious how my tires will hold now that I know the experience that 3hree5ive0ero had with his but I think he's running nitrous so I don't have anywhere near the power to put to the ground that he does.
