I ran into a little issue yesterday trying to take my wheel off. I was turning a stripped lug and the stud fell out of place. So now both the lug nut and stud is spinning together. I have muteki open ended lugs so I've been drilling it. Is there an easier route to take them off? Please help!

The knurl of the lug is spinning in the hub jake....

GENX350z,

which location? front or rear........either way........jack the car up, and from the backside of the spindle remove the hub from the car with the wheel and all... get some buddies to help you as this isnt a one man job.

drill the lug from the hub side...head of the lug....use vice grips on the lug nut on the wheel side to keep it from spinning while you drill.

drilling from the wheel side your gonna hit your wheel and thats a long long way to drill to break the nut free if its stuck down in there....plus i doubt you can get vise grips to hold the head side to keep it from spinning on the back of the hub with all the crap in the way too...

Also, once you do get this lug out....because you have already been spinning the lug trying to remove it....

Odds are the hub hole is messed up, installing another 14mm Knurl stud may not hold and you will be faced with this situation the next time you try and remove a lug nut from that particular hole or the stud may press in so easy that it spins just tightening on a new lug nut...

you may wanna look into a 16mm knurl stud with the same M12x1.25 thread pitch.....or look into sleeving the hub to try a 14mm knurl lug again...
