i was just sitting here and i remembered how everyone who looked at their 07 oem filters was suprised at how dirty they were
the following is pure speculation
this car put down 255ish when most 07's put down 265ish. could it be possible that it lost 10ish whp from really dirty air filters and gained it back with the new clean filters, and in all reality netting a near 0 whp gain

Im not doubting the gains. . . Im just trying to understand thats all. Supposedly , several 07's were run without airboxes altogether and didnt gain anything. If such is the case, how could this be? Once again, Im just curious.

personally, I think I'll wait a while and see what kind of results others get...and also what other companies, like AEM and Nismo come up with.

Not criticizing anyone, but to me these gains sound about as much as any other intake would get for a similar price, just take a look at the previous models and all the different intakes you have. Sounds really good and cant wait to get my hands on a set. I was really expecting some sort of heatshield though.
I never trust manufacturer's dynos, but that's just me.
As someone who has witnessed and done dozens of dyno runs personally, I know for a fact that heat soak in the engine bay or intake temps can drop HP #'s by 10-15 easily on a ~300hp car. All they have to do is show 1 heat-soaked run and 1 non-heat-soaked run for "15hp gain", and that would be without any mods done at all.
All of you who are jumping on this because it has better numbers than the stillen are just buying into the manufacturer's hype.
Let's wait and see if someone gets the same numbers from an independent before/after dyno.

Just a suggestion to keep the intake and coolant temps the same for each run.
Take it for what you will. I think Wired is right. BTW. Fujita sells their single intake kit for the older Z/Gs and have a 10hp claim with a dyno sheet.
Odd both dyno "results" show about a 10hp gain. Right about the same gains you get by running a baseline, resetting the ecu and running it again. I've read that resetting will cause a temp increase in hp until the ecu learns again.

for those of you that get them, you should do a dyno so we know if the gains are real. i will wait for AEM and NISMO to see if there are other choices before buying the stillen or fujita.
for all those wondering about true HP gains has it not occured to you guys there probably isn't any gains? Even if we all went and purchased these when they can out, who can honestly affoard to dyno run their car 10 times and average the power. Then dyno run their car 10 times with the intake and average out the power...
guess my point is, unless you own your own dyno or get free dyno's, there isn't any point in dyno'ing it either way.

there are many ways you can change numbers on a dyno. I could simply adjust the elevation on the dyno to show an increase in power.
Different dyno companies vary. You could do a loaded dyno run on a mustang and have it show up 10-15% less then doing a unloaded run on the same dyno.
looking at the Fujita intake system, I dont see how turning a cold air system into a warm air system is going to benefit at all.
Id be more willing to bet that just ditching the plastic piping and going to a smooth internaled 304 stainless and keeping the stock air box would make more power. If I can get some free time, I will tig some up.
As far as volumetric efficiency and turbulance only really comes into play on shorter intake systems, the tubing design is simple and long enough on a Z to work.
We just need to face the facts. The stock intake system is one of the best on the market IMO. Its a factory cold air intake with no resonators to add restrictions. I really think that waiting for K&N drop ins will probably yield the same WHP gain as an aftermarket unit, and you will end up spending 1/2 the money
