Recall on slave cylinder
I went to my local dealership and even printed out that letter and they did nothing. My clutch pedal randomly sticks halfway in and looses tension sometimes. They said they could not reproduce the problem so they did nothing... Any suggestions? I have a 2007 and my vin falls into that range. I have 20K miles.
^ try another dealership. if you have the recall letter, they HAVE TO FIX IT. on a side note, my 08 z base just did it last night
2700 miles and the clutch is on the floor. checked the fluid, COMPLETELY empty. not sure if the recall is for 08's? anyone know? good job nissan...

I have an 07 base and I went through 3transmissions before they listened to me and replaced the slave, before even the re-call. Then I found a pool of debris in the master resevoir. I made them replace the entire system and I have not had a problem since. I think thats part of the trick, you have to replace the master slave and all the lines bwtween, I think because the failure is due in part with some sort of seal in the slave, that gets too hot and breaks down the seal, these bits get caught in your system; the whole system. They have to fix it, I would bring that re-call letter into them and tell them to fix it. I also applied extra heat wrap to the clutch line. Some people are actually converting them to the old cantelever style clutch, there is a video on You Tube explaing how it is done. The clutch does kinda suck, but I have found that most sports cars have an Acheles heel. I also just found out that the NIssan repair manual advises to replace the slave every time the transmission is removed. Make sure you check the Master resevoir before you go back to the dealer for debris, and if theres any crud in there it will help your case, push for the replace ment of the whole system, ask for a diffrent mechanic, try to go where you bought it, but Nissan has to honor the warranty at every Nisssan dealership. If you still do not get anywhere call a lemon attorney, sometimes NIssan will just throw cash at you to get you to sign a waver that you can never bring them to court again for the same reason, it does not void your warrany or anything and filling out lemon law papperwork online take about two minutes, try not to let the lawyer get to much. But it would be a shame, because my 2007 350z is pretty amazing.
The clutch on my '07 is sticking halfway up also; it has happened twice in the last week when leaving a parking spot and when starting from a stop at a light (both low speed cases).
I found this thread and asked the dealer about the recall and he says it doesn't apply to my vehicle. My VIN #, however, falls within the OP VIN range. Does anybody have a link to an official notice from Nissan about this issue?
I plan to take the car in to them next week to check it out, one other curious thing to note is the clutch linkage makes a clicking sound when I let up on the clutch. It's done this since I bought the car with 13k miles and I've never thought much of it as it's a minor 'click'.

Im getting my recall taken care of on Wednesday, my clutch has not given me any issues (22k miles), I just hope i'm not making a mistake and ending up worse off after the recall.....
Is there anyway to confirm if recall has been done on your vehicle as of yet? I bought my nismo used and called the original owner who said he had been told by the dealership that the clutch cylinder was replaced... i'd like to be certain, thanks guys.
I have an 08 with 14,xxx miles on it.. Had this problem last night at a traffic stop. The smell of my clutch was intense after it happened because it got stuck to the floor as I was rolling in first.
Is this problem still affecting 08 too? Wtf?

Update:
Just got back from the dealership. My service rep. said there is no TSB/Recall for the 08' Z concerning the CSC. His mechanics are at lunch right now and he will give me a ring back asap.
I've been reading this thread more in-depth and it looks like other people with 08's are experiencing this issue too. Anyone with an 08' have this replaced under warranty yet?

For those experiencing failures in their 08 with their slave cylinder, suggest filing a complaint here: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/index.cfm
I just checked it and I don't see any submitted for the CSC failures.

I had the recall service done on my car several months ago. Do they replace your entire clutch? Because the guy at the desk told me that they were going to replace the clutch just before I had it done. But now reading this thread it sounds like all they replace is the clutch cylinder. So do they replace the entire clutch ?
if not then I guess that will justify me getting a sweet Exedy clutch now that my car is at 60k miles

i finally got around to doing this thing finally. really just put it off because i hate having the dealership crack into this thing when there is nothing too terribly wrong. the clutch finally started feeling like sloppy seconds after 59,000 miles so i thought i would try out the recall......just as i suspected, it really did improve quite a bit between the redline trans fluid change i did two weeks ago and whatever they did under there. that was short lived only to be replaced by the RANCID smell of ceramic roasting itself like its going out of style. ten minutes of hard driving and this car smells like death. anyone else run into this? i dont know what they could have done. heres the even funnier part. i picked it up last friday, they also replaced o2 and a/f sensors related to pa203 code, i told them i replaced the o2 long ago and it just came right back on he said you must have gotten a bad sensor, ok ill be the idiot. drove off did a small road trip and sure enough 125 miles later same code thrown and back where we started. i didnt even schedule an appointment, just parked it at nissan sunday night and dropped the keys. that guy was genuinely shocked to see that car back so i told him everything when he called me at 8am yesterday. calls back and tells me they are going to replace the ecu apparently because they dont know what else to do. get this, the ceramic burning smell is the car running RICH because! i stumbled a bit and said well than it would smell like fuel, no response. so im sure when i pick that car up tom ten minutes of driving will lead me right back to the dealer. i just dont understand what they would have done during the recal repair to make the clutch eat itself? WTF

At roughly 48K, I had difficulty getting into gear and accelerating so finally had this done. I hated it at first, as the clutch pedal had no travel and the engagement was pretty much at the floor. The engagement seemed to get lower as I drove it. After roughly a 20 min drive, there was some type of burning smell from the clutch as I exited the car. Also I found that my cruise control was not working. I planned on returning to the dealer soon.
The next day though, I physically pulled up on the clutch pedal and found there was plenty of play. It sunk back down a few times, but it finally settled in place. The clutch now feels the same as before. Things may be smoother now as others have mentioned, but that might just be in my head. Oh and the cruise control all of sudden began working the next day.
