I hesitated having it done because the car ( at 5500 miles) broke in just fine and the shift and clutch felt perfect. You guys convinced me. I didn't want a problem like clutch failure. I just had it done and I really can't feel a difference. I'm glad it worked out.

'04 Touring Coupe...Auto tranny: FLAWLESS, NO PROBLEMO, EVER! These Zeds are out of whack, in the sense that it's usually ATs that are troublesome, but in "Zs", it's the other way around! Crazy! At 59, my AT is
A BLESSING--lotsa traffic jams/stop'n'go traffic down here; cooling system's s-w-e-e-t!!! Gauge hand remains stable just below center of gauge!!! NO FEATHERING, either! I think this Zed is a Godsend, dudes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally got mine done today at Upstate Nissan in Anderson SC. Called yesterday to confirm parts and had the car there at 8 AM. Everything went smoothly. I would say the clutch feels a tad firmer. I had them use Motul fluid as well. It seems to grab a little better as well. Glad that's over.

Dropped my car off at 9 this morning & picked it up this evening, around 5. Not sure if the car "feels" any different. I was driving my wife's RX8 for most of the day. In comparison, the Z's clutch has always felt stiffer, higher, and "springier." So, I'm not sure if its cause I got used to the marshmallow clutch on the Mazda or what?!

Well, in my attempt to go with the "it feels fine, so I don't want anyone touching my car" theory, I had my pedal fail on me yesterday. I was sitting in bumper to bumper traffic on a hill and sure enough, I pushed the pedal down at one point and it didn't pop back up...I put my foot under the pedal and pulled it back up and was able to get the car to the closest Nissan dealership to perform the recall. Hopefully I'll have it back early next week so we'll see how it goes

...and hopefully there's nothing else wrong!

That's exactly how I felt. I didn't want to wait for something to happen and it was always in the back of my mind that it would eventually fail. When I got my "work sheet" they listed all the components they had to take apart to drop the tranny and install the slave cylinder. I'll bet Nissan is really happy they decided on this design!

local jax dealer ordered parts today- appt about a week away. I mentioned that my clutch seems to be slipping at WOT and I still have an annoying whine in 1st gear. They didnt test drive as appt isnt for another week but mentioned that if clutch is out thats a non covered wear item. WTF car is barely a year old- Ive gotten 20k miles obviously 70-80% highway miles and clutch is on its way out! Every BMW I have ever owned 10+ - I always get 100k+ miles out of stock clutches. Even on my boosted e30 on light boost 8 psi 240whp vs stock 155whp I got 30k miles on a already used stock clutch with countless track runs before I finally upgraded.

I cant believe nissan parts are that cheaply made.BTW Ive been complaining of the tranny noise since second week of ownership and keep being told its normal to sound like a semi in 1st gear

While I doubt it I hope all these issues go away while doing slave install--- all under warranty.

Was supposed to get mine done today, parts didn't come in. Would this cause my clutch to slip bad when I accelerate hard? I told the dealership to look at my clutch while its in. And they are replacing my gas door becaues it doesn't line up with the car he said it was the 7th one he has done this month.

just got mine recall done today. i was nervous at first because i have around 10,000 miles and my clutch felt fine and nerver had any problems. i hesitated to get the recall done but i didn't want to get stuck on the road or have nissan mess up my car. I waited at the dealership for 5 hours to keep an eye on my car. So after i got it done, it felt the same as before. I'm just glad that it's all finished now and i should have nothing to worry about.

Dropped mine off today. Parts finally came in.Nice that they gave me a free rental without even asking. Only thing that worried me was him saying that if the tranny is shot too(loud annoying whine) it will be in for several days because tranny is not in stock. Ill update later.

Update: Got my car back just a while ago. They replaced slave cylinder and it SEEMS as if the slipping clutch feeling is gone. They confirmed clutch still had plenty of life left. Most importantly they recognized that my transmission noise is not normal in first gear. They couldnt shift it with ease into 2nd during spirited driving or really low speeds. its like if something is "stuck" or it has an artificial gate feeling.Im glad someone finally listened to me and they are replacing the tranny next week.Thats the good news. The bad news is that during these 2 days in the shop I strolled over to test drive a used 2007.5 corvette and I havnt stopped thinking about it.Think Im gonna take the plunge in spring 09 and get a new vette instead of the next Z.

My 07 350z died on me on my lunch break yesterday. I knew what was up since I did get the recall letter in the mail a few months ago but never took care of it. I had to pay $71 bucks to get it towed from where it died on me to the dealership that I bought it from.

It's been a couple weeks since my recall job was completed...like a lot of others say, the pedal feels about the same...at least the dealership took good care of my car
