Well dropped the car off at another dealer in the area (3rd dealership attempt) and I am hoping these guys actually have the part like they said they did on the phone. They are also going to put some nitrogen in the tires so may be it will all work out this time.

Not a bad idea. I may do the same.

Dropped off the car at 7:30 AM. Called the dealer at 3:00 PM for an update... Service rep said they hadn't gotten to it yet... I said, "Then why did I make an appointment? I'm going to need a loaner, or the car back until you can provide a loaner!" She siad, "We'll call you when one is available next week."

Honestly, we all know it takes less than 4 hours to do this job. I think this particular dealer is performing recall/warranty work after hours so the paying customers get their cars back same day. Which is a good idea, except I had an appointment and wasn't a walk in like all the other bozo's getting their oil changed and tires rotated!!!

And BTW... Someone was messing with my radio, and I now have a door ding that wasn't there prior to today!!! I knew I should have noted the mileage when I dropped it off!!!

That sucks George. I still haven't taken my car in. I'm scared they'll ding the car like that.

There wasn't really much of a difference. I've had it done for a couple weeks now, and under hard launches the pedal still gets light. I never had it actually drop though..(Before or after recall)

F---ing BS When they had my car 5 weeks ago, I too forgot to record mileage and I could swear there were like 20 clicks more on it when I got it back.......(2 days later, with NOTHING done to it no less). There was also a scratch on my front fender that def wasnt there, but luckily it was buffed out. Im taking a pic of the whole car and odometer next drop off......hopefully sometime this year theyll get to it.......

On a side note, I was just wondering how much of a liability it would be if someone got into an accident due to this problem....would it be Nissans fault or that of the driver of the car, knowing that there is a potential issue?

3rd dealer was the charm as the recall is finally done. Haven't driven it much but from what I can tell it seems to shift a little easier, petal seems to be a little easy to push and it doesn't seem to wait until the very top of the release before the clutch disengages. Its more of a gradual release because before it wouldn't do anything until the clutch was all most all they way up before it would release at all. That might have just been something funky with mine though.

Well, its my 6th or 7th week since I first dropped the car off and I finally had the job done. I cant tell any major difference, other than 1st to 2nd is a little easier. Quite frankly, if I didnt know my car was going into the shop, I woudlnt recognize a change.

However.

I HAVE noticed a ticking noise while the car is in 3rd and 4rth gear that was not there before the car was brought in. I am aware of the noise that the clutch or flywheel or whatever makes normally (the chatter). This is not the same. My wife described it as a noise similiar to putting a card in the spokes of a bicycle, or that something is loose or flapping. Any idea what this could be? Im going to the shop tommorrow to put one of the lil buggers in the car to hear for themselves. I may make a post of this on its own if the forum gods permit me

I finally got this done. I was "one" of the first to have the clutch issue, and actually got the whole system replaced under warranty last summer (clutch, master cylinder, slave). The clutch still didn't feel right at the time, although I never had it stick again.

I called in on Monday, they had the parts yesterday, and I took the car in this morning.

I haven't logged a lot of miles since picking it up, but I have to agree with other posters here that there IS a difference, especially in regards to the launch. It's smoother and doesn't seem to require the "perfect" engagement in order to take off smoothly. Other than that, I can't really tell a difference. I notice no difference in the point of engagement, etc.

Overall I like the difference, but we'll see what happens over time.

John

Brought the car in today, thank goodness the car made the noise with a tech in the car. He doesnt think its related to the recall work, thinks its in my rear end ..... Grrrrrrrr. They put it on the lift and couldnt pinpoint where all the chatter was emitting from, so I have to bring it in Monday...........

Just picked up my Z from a different dealer (World Nissan in Denville, NJ). Dropped it off at 7:30 this morning, and got a loaner (Toyota 4Runner ) anticipating it would be there over night. To my surprise it was completed in one afternoon!!

This is after my previous post regarding my experience with another dealer in the area (Open Road Nissan of Morristown), who never called me back after I requested a loaner. It's amazing what a difference the service experience is when dealing with a dealership who makes customer service a priority!!!

At first I thought the clutch was catching a little lower, but after adjusting the seat back one notch it felt just like before. Service advisor even mentioned that the techs dropped what they were doing to admire my exhaust. No new tranny noises to report, but I only drove 3 miles to my garage so if anything worth while comes up, I'll be sure to post here.

They found that it was some kind of rubber boot casing in the area of the transmission was loose.....the tightened it, and no more noises .

Spoke with my dealer earlier and he says it's going to take 3 to 4 weeks for the parts to arrive...

Maybe you can ask your dealer if he knows anyone who works in a NJ Nissan parts department... Apparently, both my local dealers have the parts sitting around on the shelf.

I finally got mine installed Wednesday of last week. The dealer offered to give me a discount on installs of a new Flywheel/Clutch. I only had 2-3 days to order, and decided to hold off since I am planning on a BBK soon. But he would only only charged me the additional labor it would cost to install, since it took so long to get the part in. In any case, the part is installed and I did notice a difference. For me my clutch seemed softer and less harsh. It seems to disengage and engage better as well. I am just glad its done.
