How "cheap" were you thinking about? I don't know any place in socal that can tune + install emanage + price of emanage for less than technosquares 700 (and thats including a tune)

I'll find an e-manage for $150 or less, probably $100. I go to a few meets where someone will be in trouble and need cash at some point and have one.

So figure $150 for the unit and $250 for tuning (which I think is VERY attainable...remember, I'm just going to be tuning WOT).

I won't spend over $500 on this, worst case scenario I end up tuning it myself...I've pretty well figured out how to use the factory A/F sensors (pre-cat O2 sensors are very accurate).

If your spending roughly 500 dollars, or a little under, maybe you'd benefit more from just sending your ecu into technosquare? They have solid gains + 8000rpm redline and throttle body control. Either way, goodluck.

But they won't retune for free if I ever get an intake, get an exhaust, get test pipes, etc.

+ I doubt I'll even be over $450 with a home-made wideband (still accurate).

I hate to be the jerk but this post wasn't supposed to be about what is going to be better. Honestly, a custom tune with any fuel control device that works vs. a reflash for 91 octane fuel and a host of different mods the custom tune on 93 octane will almost always be better. This is assuming both tuners are competent as well.

I have said before I will likely run both.

we are talking about modifying the MAF voltage only to fool the ECU right?
I have a SAFC 2 in my garage, it would do the exact same thing right?
On emanage is there different rpm points to tune for like in SAFC and how many points are there?

4.2 ft. lbs. gain and 18.9 hp gain peak!

So basically you gained about 3tq and 15whp on normal dynos. Not too shabby!!

What does a dyno comparison have to do with pure gain numbers?

We finished tuning it, i honestly had the hardest time getting a consistant Dyno Number on my dyno today.I dont know if it was my Dyno, or the balding tires on his car, we would get to 5500rpms and the tires would spin.. Throwing off the dyno numbers..We then tried it in 5th gear, but hit the speed limiter on the ECU..

Once we got the car to hold a steady pass, pass we unhooked the emanage and did a baseline for today.

We had one in there previously, but I like to compare same day baseline to tune, when tuning. Strange thing is we made about 8whp more on his baseline than he did previously.
The thing we noticed was the stock ECU ran a 10.8-11.2 AF under WOT.. We leaned the A/F out to about 13.0-12.5 and made some power, about 10 through the entire power band, but very few peak HP..Maybe like from 288peak to 290.

Were waiting on him to get some HFC and do it over in dry weather, as we thing the water may have cause the tires to slip.
