Default P0420 from my Berk Metallic HFCs

Okay, so my car now finally showed a code after 4k of miles. Can anyone tell me how to resolve this so it doesn't come back? I reset the ECU with my Cipher system. So it has been reset.

P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 1

I have the latest ones from Berk.

long thread, the o2 sim didn't work, but later in the thread some of the forum vendors starting pitching in, not sure if they came up with a fix or not...

Thanks for the link to the thread. I contacted Tony to see what he says. Berk when I contacted them mentioned steel wool Aluminumnized so it doesn't rust in the non-fouler tubes. My gas mileage this tank went to crap too before the light turned on.

I also made a thread about this. You can find it under my threads.

Tony contacted me a few weeks ago and asked me if I needed some kind of special muffler packing to insert into my O2 bungs. But ever since I reset the CEL about 1,000 miles ago it hasn't come back on.

But I have the older version 2.36" inner diameter HFCs. I believe the new one's have a 2.5" inner diameter.

I don't know if I have the older 2.36 or the newer ones; but I installed mine January of 2008, so I'm guessing that's the older model? How do you tell? Either way, I've been trouble free for 14k miles now..

For some reason I think it has to do with the Chevron gas I got this time.

I hate to change directions but a quick question, my friend just got a Service Engine Light or whatever, but from what I've heard you can take the car to like AutoZone and they can read the code correct?

I did the brillo on mine and it only worked for 100-200 miles then it came back. This issue is one of the things that drove me to sell mine.

I would hate to have to sell mine. They definitely increased the power enough not too. I will find a way to resolve this one way or another.

I was having to reset the ECU daily and the rasp with the exhaust I had at that time was painful. I also had one crack at the support bracket and had to get a replacment. After that I gave up.

how did you do yours? i think its all about how you stuff it. did you use non foulers also?

i used straight brillo pads. i just rip them apart and shake most of the blue soap off. then i just stuff them and blow thru them till i can barley blow. but then you need to add a little extra in there not stuff just lightly in there and let the o2 sensor push it down.

walker im sorry it didn't work for ya. if anyone guys order you some gtm test pipes. im curious to what they did.
