I know gabes car well.....I have mentioned several times that I am proponent of the tomei's, but I will stick too my guns that the ichiba (garbage) were likely making less than the factory exhaust manifolds.....

Also, he bought those with the full intention of installing cams.......which is clearly a case where good headers will amplify the gains.

LOL. I post dyno graphs and you come at me with hearsay? Excellent points Mr. Strawman.

The burden of proof is on you now.

There are three graphs (not including the sg's as they aren't available and I am not doubting there capabilities), that are just headers. I commented on Gabe's. The stillens lose miega mid range to gain 5whp on top. The alphaworks are unsourced and frankly hardly believable.

Lakeside, others....I tried.

This is unnecessary as you can pm me with your dissenting (to mine) opinion.

My HR G35 sedan is breaking 300whp.

Injen CAI
IMPUL headers (which are off right now)
Invidia Q300 exhaust
Technosquare Reflash and dyno tune ~305.7whp 242wtq~

Still debating on which HFC to purchase. Either Kinetix or Crawford.
Also, there is another mod that will soon be coming out that i would like to get. I cant say at this moment due to more R&D work.
Lets just say its something everything is waiting for

Not cams, something else. Something a bit easier to install.

Hmmmm Don't say "Intake Manifold" or you'll get your ***

There really aren't any simple bolt-on mods left for those of us over 305-310WHP

Its gonna get costly from here on out for our NA builds.

Naw, not that lol

But ya, your right, its is going to get costly after 305-310.
From here im just going to start working on wire tucks, ARC catch can, and few more ARC parts.

For all the money you guys are spending to try and squeeze out some horsepower from the engine, I'd have opted for a solid aftermarket LSD and 4.08 gear.

$3000 in parts to get the same additional acceleration as a single $500 gear.

Gears are on the list. $3,500 in parts should really make it accelerate.

I am also considering gears. I may order this week with my Cams. I need to get a quote on installs for both before I decide on gears. I've got alot invested in my car in a relatively short amount of time. I get enough flack from friends for not boosting already.

Haven't done a search yet. Need to pull up a thread that states the Rev's in each gear with 4.08's vs stock gearing. Maybe someone will beat me to it? I remember reading it but was months ago.

Edit: All the gearing info we need!

Easy way to look at it for the HR, is that the 4.08 gears will give nearly identical top speeds in gears as the original VQ35DE from 2003-2005.

I'm a big proponent of adding the 4.08 to the HR. If anyone is willing to sacrifice some highway mileage, the 4.08 gear should be the first mod on any HR Z. Especially the 6spd, I can understand automatic drivers wanting to opt for a slightly taller gear, but thats understandable, due to the lack of an extra gear.

The transmission and final drive on the car is originally designed to function well with the 6600rpm limit. On the original car, the top of 2nd gear hits just over 60mph (I want to say ~62mph). 99% of manufacturers design the transmissions this way, particularly for manual transmissions. Why? 0-60mph calculations. The extra shift into 3rd gear, typically adds about .2-.3 seconds to the overall time. Having 1st gear go up to 60 just isn't practical, so the best bet is to maximize the acceleration of the 1st 2 gears.

Just for comparison, the 7 speed automatic in the 370Z, which also shares our 7500rpm ceiling, has its 1st 3 gears, comparable to our manual transmission gears paired with a 4.08. It's actually slightly more aggressive than that.

So I spoke to Performance Motorsports today! To make a long story short I won't be doing Cams. $1100 for cams + $1500 or more for install.

If I was going to do Cams I would do as they Recommend. Which is a full out NA build. Pistons, Rods, Porting and Boost compression. As well as do a flywheel and Clutch.

So now I have to consider what my true goals for the car are......

I'm kinda torn! I'd like to have the acceleration of 4.08 gears with the reliability of fully built NA engine! But I'd also like to have the HP of a TT engine and that Badass sound.

I am considering doing 4.08's with a Quaife LSD and possibly doing the Zex nitrous kit. That should hold me over for another year or two.

I'm gonna give this some thought over the next couple days. If I do go TT I do realize the 4.08's would need to come out. Not a big deal.... At least I would have a Quality LSD

I have 5K saved right now. I'll have 13-15K by spring. So just need to figure how I best want to spend it. I also don't want to blow it all on the car. So this may take 2 years. Save up some more cash.

Personally.....I wouldn't do the 4.08's with nitrous, but with an HR it won't be a detriment like it is with the DE. The 4.08's mate VERY well to the NA HR though.
