Default How much can I gain from upgrading cats without tuning?

I want to upgrade to aftermarket cats, perhaps HFC, but I was wondering if I can really get a noticeable amount of gain without a tune if I'm on stock cat-back exhaust, or if a tune is absolutely necessary in order to feel the power increase.

OP, this blog from a Z-oriented performance shop in my area might be a good read:

Good luck with your choice; personally, I plan to try out the new HR ART pipes once I get my wedding costs taken care of.
