I don't think you will find too many people running a 275/35 on a 8.5" wheel (other than autocross maybe); the tire is over 2 inches wider than the wheel itself. Personally, I would be looking at 255/40/18 (1/4" shorter than OEM) if you are lowered. 265/35 is 3/4" shorter than an OEM tire so you would need to be pretty low to close that fender gap. If you want to go wider you will just need new wheels.

I just bought 275/40/18 for my 2003 18" touring wheels (8"rim) Unfortunately I will not have them mounted for about two weeks for pictures

The 8 inch width rim is too small for 275/40 tire. Optimum for this size tire is a 9.5 inch width wheel.

8.5 f / 9.5 r + 15 all around.

From what I've read on this forum it seems that +15 shouldn't rub in the front or the rear at those widths with a 255/40 and 275/40, but my gut is telling me it's cutting it close.

Can somebody confirm this for me?

I'm not dropped. I don't plan to for a while. But what if I do drop at those offsets and widths? I don't want to do any fender work or have any issues with my driving. Am I making a mistake or am I all good?

I have battles 9.5 with +15 offset all around. I am running 255/40 fronts and 275/40 rears... I only rub when taking corners extremely fast or going over bumps too quickly. I am waiting for my coils and sways to show up which should fix the problem.

I hope not... there isn’t anyone around this area that does it and I am not confident in my own ability to pull it off without damaging the vehicle.

However, I really like the look of the setup.

trust me, i have the same wheels and tire size, lowered an inch on springs and i rubbed pretty good. rolling is easy, you can rent the tool and heat gun to do it right, the trick is not to try to go flat right off the bat.... do like 4 passes on it and heating the fender to prevent cracking of the paint. b2 auto in florida rents out kits to do it

Question 245/40/18 Front and 245/45/18 Rear on Stock Touring Rims

Hey guys, so I was wondering if putting 245/40/18 tires on the front stock rims (8") and 245/45/18 tires on the rear stock rims (8.5") would be a good idea in the sense that it would improve handling by reducing the understeer caused by a staggered setup, or would it simply throw off the balance of the car and make it extremely tail happy?

I know there are a lot of posts about this but I have not been able to find a post about whether this would increase handling and not just can this be done or not.

Thanks

^^ I run this setup and really like the neutral handling on the stock Nissan suspension. --Spike

Awesome, so it doesn't hurt steering response too much or anything to put a 245 on an 8 inch wheel?

It will be more balanced and not close to tail happy. Then a 245 mounted on an 8 inch wheel is not a problem at all. Still within specs, but it does have a pretty short sidewall and will still respond well.

Default Off setand tire size help

18" by 9.5" all around with 264/40 rubber. Im getting variant 1 coil overs and gonna be going for a form and function stance. I like the meaty race tire look. no stretch. I was thinking +10 offset in the front and +15 in the rear. Is this functional or am I an idiot? Any input on the offset or the rubber im sticking with the wheels already have them.
fenders are being rolled no questions asked.

Default tire sizes.

Just want an opinion on tire sizes before purchasing.

255/40/18 front on 9.5 wheel.
295/35/18 rear on 10.5 wheel.
All 25mm offset.

Question 245/40/18 and 245/45/45 with VDC?

I'm planning on putting the 245/40/18 on the front and the 245/45/18 on the rear, but will I have a problem with the VDC kicking in with these tires? How about when the VDC is turned off? I know its just over the 3% rule but will it really be that much of a problem?

I'm using stock 2006 touring rims (8" front, 8.5" rear)

Thanks

It's not even close to being a 3% difference, 245/40 is pretty close to stock tire height. VDC will never know the difference
