18" Wheel & Tire Discussion Thread
My wife got me a late birthday gift and ordered me some TE37 replicas. They are matte black Inovit ST16 wheels 18x9.5 +22. Right now I have stock height, touring wheels and tires with 15mm (F) and 20mm (R) spacers. What tires should I throw on to not rub and fill the wheel arches without looking like Fred Flintstone? Thanks
Still learning wheel specs and all that so I wanted to run this by more knowledgable people. Already ordered tires: 245/40/18 and 275/40/18. Wheels I'm looking at are either 18x8.5 +30/18x10 +25 or 18x9.5 +12/18x10.5 +15. I'm at stock height and do not want to roll. Thanks for any input.

Alright after reading this entire thread and the Unofficial Enkei Thread as well, I would just like my opportunity to get honest feedback on my particular setup (it is probably the most common). I just feel like I might be missing something, so this is what I've got so far:
Enkei RPF1 18x9.5 +15 FRONT & 18x10.5 +15 REAR
Tires: 255/40 f & 275/40 r
At the moment I am running stock suspension, but I have learned that I should probably lower the car a bit to reduce the gap wheel to fender. In the suspension area I am getting a little bit lost, but I know that I cannot afford coilovers nor do I want a huge drop. I am considering the Tokico D-spec Spring/Shock combo since I have heard some good things.
Can anyone foresee any hiccups or unexpected expense? Fender rolling? Camber? Hubcentric rings? I feel like I am at the home stretch here, so if anyone can finish these thoughts for me I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks in advance!

^^^ Those are solid specs and exactly what BMurray350z runs on his Z:

For a mild drop I would recommend the Tokico D-Spec as I have in the past, you should also purchase SPC Rear Camber Arms and SPC Toe Bolts (usually can be found used on the forum classifieds/combo deals through our reputable dealers) to get your rear alignment back into spec. For a dd your camber shouldn't exceed -2 to prevent uneven wear but there are plenty who drive on -2.5-3.0 so it's really about what you want. You should roll your rear fenders to prevent rubbing at full compression (front are rolled from factory). There is debate on what material is best for hubcentric rings but no matter what (plastic/aluminum) you should get a set for your wheels/hubs.
Hope this helped.

Ugh that car looks beautiful.
So if I am following, I will need SPC Rear Camber Arms, Toe Bolts, Rear Fender Roll, and hub centric rings. This gives me some more research to do!
Do I need 2 toe bolts and 4 hub rings?
^^^ Read through the 1st page of this thread (https://my350z.com/forum/brakes-and-...ion-101-a.html) and it'll answer your suspension questions.
Yes you will need a pair (2) of toe bolts and a full set (4) of hub rings.

^^^ Also, since you are not looking into height-adjustable coilovers, look into this mod (https://my350z.com/forum/brakes-and-...mount-mod.html) because the rear sits higher than the front naturally.

My first impression of this mod instills a little bit of nerves to be honest. I know that it looks good, I just don't know how I would get it done.
^^^ Yes you should because D-spec drops ~1" at all corners and the rear will still sit higher than the rear.
All you need it steady hands, gloves, a hacksaw, and patience to get it done. Or have a greasemonkey friend do it. I run a coilover setup so I have no firsthand experience but plenty of people have done it successfully.

I guess I might understand how the stance is set up. Springs/Shocks and a cut along the rear spring mount sounds like the way to go for me. I thought this whole thing was going to be about lighter wheels but now, it's the stance that took over.
I will post pics here when I get it all done

Well, you're at stock height and running 18 inch wheels. Chances are you won't be running into any rubbing issues with the fenders. If you want to fill up your wheel well with meaty tires then you'll have to look into some 40 or 45 side profile tires. Even with that you'll still have some wheel well gap. People are usually able to "fill" their wheel well gap by lowering the car. Even if it's a modest drop of an inch.
275/40/18 on the rear. 245/45/18 on the front. Yeah I know the fronts are taller than the rear.
But short on money at the moment. They are on the V1 Track rims. 8' fronts, 8 1/2 rears. The 275's seem to fit pretty well on them.
Picture of my Mustang also. Has 305's on the rear. I know I sort of like Red cars lol.
