18" Wheel & Tire Discussion Thread
Narrowed my search to two wheels. Any guidance is appreciated. Much thanks to all the previous help so far.
Wheel #1
18x9 on all four +15
245/40 (255???) f -- 275/40 r.
I would go 255 on a 9.5 wheel. Not sure on a 9.
Wheel #2
18x9 + 18 front
18x10 + 22 rear
Same tires as #1
I don't think either of these should rub on my stock sus. But now I'm considering a 1" drop. So will either of these get me into trouble if I don't roll my fenders and drop 1"??

Btw, why would you not want a 255 on a 9 , when you would have been running a 275 on a 9? Makes no sense.
Will 255 be the better fit for the front still then on a 9? Or should I go 245 now?
Will a 275 rub on a 10" +22 if I drop?
255 works very well on a 9, it's what my first setup was with a 275 on a 9 rear. The 275 on a 9 out back sucked. There should be no reason to roll, till you add spacers to flush it up a little.
I’m not expert in this area, but I have done a ton of research lately, before selecting a tire/wheel setup for my car.
You don’t provide a very important piece of information which is the wheel’s offset.
Anything over 1” drop with tires pushed out enough to contact the inner-horizontal fender bend will probably require a fender roll.
I’m going with a 0.6” drop and a moderately aggressive offset. I cannot roll my rear fenders (I’ve repaired rust here twice now).

Just out of curiosity, and that I like the 9" wheels a lot, What is the disadvantage of 9 on all 4? Would the 9" + 15 fit without rubbing stock or dropped? I don't think they will. I suppose I could go with a 255f 265r if the 275 is that bad on a 9.
You could do the 9 all around with a 245/40 and 265/40 , but you really limit yourself on tires. Just get the 9 and 10 combo , or better yet, get wider.
Anyway, on a 9.75 a 275/40 tire will be meaty, 255/40 will be decently stretched.
You're in a real grey area. If you want a flush tire/wheel, you need wider wheels. If you don't mind stretch, I'd go with a 255/40 on the back and 245/40 on the front.
Others chime in (terrasmack), but this should keep your speedo close to the actual speed and also satify your VDC requirements.
+1 Roll those fenders. You're on a limited range with wheels, tires, alignment, and drop. The route you're taking could potentially be more costly by trying to keep that one variable constant.
I just got 4 18x9 enkei rims. I was wondering if the 18x9 will fit up front on my 2004 350z....
Tire sizes I wanted were 255/40/18 front and 265/40/18 for the rears. Main concern is if the fronts will fit... I also havr new springs that will lower my car 1.3".
First time buying rims and tires for a vehicle so input woukd be appreciated. Thanks guys

Normally, I would ask for the offsets but seeing they're only 18x9 Enkei's I'd say you're good to go. Unless they have some ridiculously high offsets, you might actually rub on the inside. You can run wider wheels and still be okay in the front. It's the rears that usually need a roll.

I rolled my fenders and the result was RUST!
I reversed the fender-roll, fixed the rust (cut out the rusted sheet metal), and now all is well.
Don't roll your fenders if your DOT puts chemicals on the roadway.

Fender rolling works as expected in "Sunny Beaches" ... But not in artic-like conditions.
Curling the fender to +90 degrees is doomed in locations where temperatures drop below freezing and the DOT uses chemicals on roadways.
I have a 2003 car.
