Rear Tires Installment Charge
I asked discount tire how much they would charge to put on 2 rear tires that i have worn out.. They told me it would be between 60-70 bucks because the z's have some sensor in the wheels they have to adjust. Does this sound like a rip to anyone else?
No. The Z's have Tire pressure sensor's (TPS) in the wheels. They work with the Tire Pressure Monitoring system so you know if your pressure is low in your tires! That does sound a tad bit high though. They charged me like 90 to do all tires at nissan and les schwab wanted like 75-80 to do all 4.
YES, it's a ripoff. While most if not all Zs have the TPS installed in each wheel, there's nothing that needs to be adjusted or changed when swapping tires. All you do is dismount the old tire and mount a new one.
As long as they keep the wheels on the same corners they came from, their shouldn't be a problem with keeping the TPMS working properly.

Doesn't sound like a rip off. Because if you go to their website and purchase thier tires, its $12.95 per tire for install and lifetime balancing..then i think its $4 per tire for the TMPS service.
Some tire shops will not will work wheels with TPMS sending units inside. Other shops will not work on big (19 inch wheels). The shop risks paying for any damage. I suppose $70 helps offset the cost of buying owners sending units that they have broken in the past.

i needed some tires too. I just called them and they also do price matching! But about the TPMS I asked the rep about that and he said if they have to remove the valve and the rubber grommet that is on it to release the air that they will have to be replaced. And he said they usually charge 8-9 bucks per tire.

If you use discount..........inspect your wheels before you leave. Take it from a old discount manager. Some of those kids have no business touching certain types of wheels.

If you find the right guy im sure it does not matter where you go. Nothing against discount because there is a tier of very qualified employees but ive seen some bad stuff in my day. I will save the horror stories for the camp fire.
I just had two rear tires (Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3/ 245/45/18) installed. I paid $15 (including a $5 disposition fee) per tire ($30 total) to mount and balance the two rear tires. I have TPMS sensors in the wheels, but they didn’t need to do anything with these.
