Default How did you guys feel when you first curbed your wheels?

Yesterday while trying to park my car at the gym, I found the perfect corner spot to park. Generally I look for these spots because people are just a$$holes about dinging your car door. Anyways, I worked my arms out and did some boxing/sparring with my buddy. After the workout my arms were like jello!! As I got into my car and tried to drive off, my arms didn't turn the steering wheel enough coming out and I felt a slight bump behind me (I backed into the spot). The minute I felt that a sicking feeling went through my stomach. I walked out and looked at my left rear wheel and yep... I ******* curbed it. I must have stood there for like 30 mins looking at the gash. I didn't even sleep well last night. I guess there's no way to repair the lip on these Volks GTS wheels huh?

Man...I curbed my wheels on my Integra once...they weren't that expensive but still around 1k and I spent like 2 years trying hard not to curb them but I did it one time when I was pissed off about something and was late to class. Anyway, i share your pain. Take it to a good wheel shop (usually there would be one close to expensive luxury car dealers) I think it's repairable but the clear coat on the wheels might not be the same bro.

I share your pain... well not quite since the wheels I curbed were OEM's. But, my "curbing" experience makes me wary of spending 2-3K on wheels I may damage in a slit-second.

I think what you were feeling had nothing to do with your wheels.

I've kept the Z "dingless" for 4 + years now by being very careful where I park and always taking a corner spot. Plus i park as close to the curb side to leave as much room as possible between the Z and what ever parks next to me.

But, twice now, I've forgot how close I was to the curb and scraped a rim by cutting the wheel to tight turning while driving away. Bummer. PO me no end.

^^ That's exactly how I scraped my rims... turning too tightly when too close to a curb.

Sucks man..it's like tempting fate parking so close to the curb but playing roulette with the cars next to you if you dont.

I always seem to curb them pulling into a driveway , i know its ganna happen sooner or later , f it. Better that then a hit and run taking out and wheel (cobra R ) and fender like what happened on my ranger.

I pee'd on myself and hugged my wheel for an hour.....jkjk, but I did get a little bit of rash on a right hand turn, I was sooo mad, I thought I ruined the wheel because on my first car I put a 3 inch bend in a 18in chrome wheel and thats all I could picture in my head, but I pulled over and it wasnt bad, but since everywhere else on my car is perfect, thats all I think about.

I eventually put a 1 cm tiny scratch on my front passenger rim. You can't even really see it, but I know it's there and it pisses me off.

I was trying to pull up close to a mail box so my girlfriend could drop off my mail serves me right for being lazy.

I learned my lesson with the last set of wheels that I had... When leaving an end spot - TURN AWAY FROM THE CURB... It takes a more time, yes it does... I just dont want to deal with it...

OP: Sorry to hear about your GT-S' man... Just have them refinished... Im sure a reputable shop can do this... It may not be cheap but it doesnt cost as much as a new wheel... Good luck...

+1.

I curbed my passenger rear, while backing into a parking spot at the mall. Only had the Z for about a week, when I did it. Apparently wasn't used to the car yet.

My dad just curbed my driver's side front this past Sunday, and honestly, I wasn't as pissed about it. I know this is blasphemy, but, I've learned that "it's just a car"... lol.
