FYI:
255/35/18 R888 on 18x9.5 +15 rubs lightly at 2.4 camber
275/35/18 R888 on 18x10.5 +15 rubs lightly at 2.0 camber
Car is mildly lowered, camber is in check, tires are mildly square, but certainly not square like a Hoosier. Fenders are not rolled - owner has no desire for that.

I was surprised to; so. . . anyone want a set of new matte black RPF1s on those sizes?

 

Probably going to go with Nitto Nt05's they are surprisingly the cheapest I've found and get pretty decent reviews.

I'm still waivering back and forth on sizing to save a few bucks on the tires and fender roll. Either 285/35/18 ---255/35/18 or 275/40 and 245/40.

We'll see how frisky im feeling. My wallet is drained with so many expenses i've created..

 

Nt05's are rubbish in the wet.....

 

Streetwise? Hydroplane easily? I read some mixed reviews some said actually decent in rain, another not so much..

 

Why drop to a 30mm stagger front to rear, the car understeers enought with the factory 20mm stagger. 255/75 or 265/285 is a much better combo.

BTW never driven my NT05's in the rain, don't know how they are. I would think they are better than the Falken 615's i had at one time.

Tires all hydroplane at the same speed, the tread determines the traction before you go up on plane, and the stability you have while on plane.

 

i just went and checked out some NT03's in person.

Since I've already done RPF1's on my previous car...I figured i would go with a NT03 setup.

it just seems that no one ever posts theirs up! All i've seen with NT03's are Kal_el's all black Z.

if anyone has some pics of NT03's on Z's please post them up for inspiration!

I was wondering which combo would be ideal between 255/40/18 & 265/40/18 and 265/40/18 & 275/40/18, on a RPF1 9.5 & 10.5 rims? Since a few posts up you mentioned, that staggered sets bring about inherent understeer. I want to do it right the first time. Any info would be of great help and much appreciated.

 

^ you can tune your suspension and sways for a more neuteral feel.

 

255/40 and 275/40 is a great street combo with some stretch for the "look" thats what i run for daily driving. Then if you want wider fronts, you really nee to drop to 35 series. A 265/35 285/35 is still a great street combo, but will really start to shine on the track. My current track setup, very minimal understeer is 275/35 and 275/40, its easily streetable, next i'm going to add a little understeer with running 275/35 front and 285/35 rear just to have the extra rubber.

 

Is this for the 9.5/10.5 +15 combo? If so, please elaborate on camber specs, because a car I just toyed with with the combo above and 255/275 tires did not work out perfectly.

I hadn't specified the offset, but you are correct, +15 offset. What kind of issues with camber have arised, with 9.5 & 10.5 widths? You and Terrasmak are the individuals who I look to for advice, in regards to proper tire sizes, since you two are the track and autocross OG's. Thanks again fellas.

No real issues with camber, but one simply needs to be cautioned when running the Enkei RPF1 wheels in the +15 offset (whether they are 9.5 or 10.5). It is an awesome looking set-up, but not everyone can run a moderately large tire without some requirements (high camber, rolled fenders) or consequences (rubbing). A little bit of camber goes a long way in upper clearance.

I run this same set-up on the track, but without the rear spacer. My rear camber is 2.5*, I have no idea how you can run those with a +15 rear spacer unless you have the same or more camber, and rolled fenders. Mine are not.

My current street combo is the 9.5 front at +15 and 10.5 rear spaced to +10 with the 255/40 and 275/40. The camber is the key, i had -1.5 front for a while and rubbed on the fender liner screw, -1.8 clears easily ( i removed the spring and collapsed the suspension to check clearances. With -2.3 i clear the +15 up front with 275/35. The rear is rolled and i was running -1.8 with no problems, now at -2.1 i have extra clearance.

Ride height is a huge factory too because of the camber gain as suspension compresses.
