Default What Gives? Can't remove lug nut

Trying to mount the rims I bought from Jay'Z today & ran into a problem. First had to get new lugs so the center caps would fit. Axis Mods btw. The ones I bought still too long so I'll get some new ones. Small issue.

Here's what's got me stumped. I can't get one lug nut off the front drivers side. It's turning & turning but won't come off. It's loose like when it gets to the end of the thread but the sucker just won't fall off. Even applying pressure at that lug while turning it does nothing.

I must mention that when I got the car I was getting vibration coming from that wheel. Was gonna take it back to the dealer but discovered it was a loose lug nut. The wheel hasn't been off since I've had the car. Could this be my issue. Something happened when the lug was loose.

Anyway, still don't understand how the lug won't come off. I did have a hard time loosening it. Took many attempts as if I was still trying to break it loose b4 it started to turm

Help!

The threads on either the lug or nut are stripped. You can turn the nut until you are blue in the face but it is not coming off.

I've already done that. Somethings gotta be stripped. Any suggestions on getting it off though?

Can you get a grip on the lug nut to pull it straight out? If your stud is stripped like some have suggested then they will probably just cut the lug nut off, pull the wheel, then replace the stud. Hopefully it's not more involved than that, but it's something you'll probably want a shop to do.

If you do not have the tools to crack the nut take it to a pro.

Well it'll have to be tomorrow as I'm on my way to work. Didn't appear to want to tighten back up when I tried.

I had the same thing ahppen to me, when I overtightened the lugnuts on my G. Stripped one of them, and broke the stud. Had to drill out the lugnut to get the wheel off, and then had to replace the wheel studs.

When i was drifting my 240 this was a commen thing because the wheels where going on and coming off so often. You will have to replace the stud and the lug nut. If you have tools and a little skill you don't have to take it to a shop. its fairly easy and stright forward. But if you don't have the time or just don't want to bother with it take to a pro. should take them about 30min tops.

As said, you stripped the Knurl on the stud. Try this....... Put all nuts back on, You will NEED an impact, impact the stubborn nut TIGHT !!!! Gently heat in for a minute with a butane (expands it) then reverse the impact at full throttle.

I may give you that last chance to grab one more time and spin off

Well finally got 'er off today. I ended up drilling the lug nut & could see through the opening that the lug was spinning but the stud was still. Opened it enough to stick an extension in it & tapped the stud out some & the lug came off. When I had the loose lug nut it caused an indentation around the surface of the stud. So there were threads on both sides of this indentation & the lug would not thread to either side. Pics will clear this up. Anyway, its off & the stud has been replaced. Now I can mount my last wheel tomorrow.

I've gotta figure out how to resize my pics. I post up when that's done.

Here's the stripped stud. After getting it out I know this could have only happened when I had the loose lug nut. Glad I found it this way & not when I was on the side of the road.
