Default New tire recommendations

Looking for tires for my volks. They are 19" le28's, fronts are 8.5 and rears are 10.5.

I was looking at toyo T1R's since they are a pretty popular choice. Sizes im looking at are 245/35/19 fronts and 275/35/19 rears, which from searching seems like they will work just fine. I was just wondering about the benefit of going with 285's in the rear compared to the 275's. I dont track my car and i rarely drag it (although if i do ide want some good traction, ide like to hang with my roomates evo) which is why i cant decide whether to go with the 285's or 275's. Does the extra 10mm on each side really provide that much more grip?

Also keep in mind im lowered on tanabe nf210's (which i will upgrade to coilovers in the future so I WILL be going lower than I am now), so im guessing with the 285's i would NEED to roll my fenders as opposed to the 275's i might not, correct?

I was also wondering what other choices of a cheaper tire are out there that perform decent. Like i said i never track the car so ide give up some performance for a cheaper tire if I would save alot more money, but if im just looking at saving 100 bucks ill just get the T1R's.

Any comments on Nitto Neogens? Also, I had Kumho SPT's on my last car and I liked them, but they dont seem to be a popular choice among 350z owners and ide like to know why.

Oh yea where i live i see NO snow and BARELY any rain, so yea, no all seasons really necessary.

Daily driven so treadwear DOES matter

The Toyo’s are a good choice. They are a nice balance of co$t and performance. The sidewall is relatively soft, so you will get a comfortable ride with your 19” wheels.

A better tire is Michelin Pilot Sport PS2. It has a stiffer sidewall providing more secure handling, but runs quiet and comfortable. The downside is that it is expensive.

The sizes you mention are the “standard” people mount on 19” wheels. If you prefer going to 285’s, I doubt that you will need to roll your rear fenders unless your wheels have excessive offset. Even if this (fender rolling) is necessary, it’s inexpensive and you don’t need to be concerned about rusting in Phoenix, AZ.

Reason why so many people have Toyo T1Rs is because a lot of vendors package them with their rims. They are cheap and good all-around street tires.

Another good choice are Falken 452s, which is what I'm running along with many others.

If your offsets are 22mm or higher than you can get away with 285s on the rears. If in the teens then you might need a mild roll.

Yea the offsets are 22 all around. The falkens look good but they seem to be even more expensive than the toyo's. Pretty much the toyo's are the max i wanna pay for tires so if theres nothing substantially cheaper that still performs good then the T1R's are going to be my best bet

btw the toyo prices im getting are off td4l.com, if anyone else can give a recommendation on another store thats cheaper it will be much appreciated

edit*** If i do go with 285's is the more popular choice to go with 285/30/19 or stick with 285/35/19. I know it depends on how meaty I want the rears to be but i just wanna know what you guys recommend, i dont want too much meat in the rear but then again i dont want to sacrifice comfort by going with a lower profile

35 profile will be closer to stock spec and would be my choice.

You can look into Nitto Invo or Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta.
People are getting pretty good review from these two tires.
Both cost less than Toyo

Just don't go for the RE050A.
They are the last set of tires I would ever consider.
They are expensive, poor grip in wet and they worn out fast.

i run conti sportcontacts in 255/35/19 and 285/35/19. pretty good wear and traction. overall i'm happy with 'em. i had falken fk451s b4 and i found them to be a lil noisy and on the narrower side.

w/ the falkens i didnt have to roll rear fenders, with the contis i rubbed and had to roll.
