Need new tires. Can you have both great performance and longevity?
I have almost 18,000 on my stock Bridgestones and I'm looking at buying tires that will last me about 30,000 miles but I am also looking for performance that is almost as good as OE tires. I live in Florida so snow handling does not matter to me and I do not care about noise at all. What are your recommendations for ~ $150-200 a tire?
Some of the tires that I saw on tirerack were...
Goodyear Eagle GT
Kumho Ecsta ASX
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus
General Exclaim UHP

As a “class,” summer performance tires wear relatively fast compared to other tire types (e.g., all season tires, passenger car tires, etc.).
On your Z (and for the tires you list), you can expect about 30k on the fronts and 20k+ on the rears.
Of course this also depends upon how aggressively you drive.

Falken 452's is what i would suggest in 245/40 front and 245/45 rear. If you look under these sizes you will also get a better selection of tires.

I agree with these sizes (Post #4). In fact, that’s exactly what I am running now.
The handling is fun (about neutral... slightly towards over-steer) and 245’$ are a good value. You can buy this setup (245/40-18" front and 245/45-18" rear) for a decent price.

the eagle gt tires have a really hard compound. out of your choices, i would pic the kumho asx or even the general exclaim.
another good tire for longitivity and decent traction is the new hankook evo v12.
i work at a tire store btw.
