I own Rays wheels and have to babysit that anodized finish, so I can say that (above) But thats probably an unfair comparison, so I have to retract that regarding TEs. Rays does have some good PC finishes, not always perfect, but much better than these I'm sure.

Tware - as far as I know volk powdercoats zero wheels...
I also don't believe they anodize. Most, if not all finishes are
painted. Can someone confirm?
Great discussion guys.
At the very least we're creating perspective.
Will likely post my wheels ft shortly. I need something new.
Maybe those sl's.

hard to say about exactly how big of a problem the Rays finish is, it may have more to do with expectations when you've spent so much. They probably have very much above average coatings and usually something has caused the problem, like a acidic cleaner. But, its also fair to think they will be more hassle free than cheaper wheels.

I somewhat agree......
I can see the point of view from the manufacturers standpoint.........
But also, I don't believe the replicas take sales (high volume of sales) away from them. I believe most people buying the replica wheels can't afford the OG's in the first place.
I think the guy that owns a Rolex isn't too concerned with someone who buys a Rollex on the streets of NY city......

Rays makes a budget wheel, Gram Lights.. which are ironically heavy as hell.. and still alot lighter than these replicas. And they dont cost substantially more. Rays really should make a cast version of the TE as a Gram Light. If you could get replicas for 1000 but real Rays wheels in a cast version for 1500, Rays would sell a ton of them.

This isn't a post intended to get me flamed, but to better my understanding..
What is the problem if there is a replica that a person can get for 2/3 cheaper that is nearly identical to the real deal, minus the finish and brand? Wouldn't it make sense to get these, and if the finish sucks the cost to refinish them 5 times would still not be as much as getting the Volks in the first place?
Again, this is merely to help me understand better.
