Default Will 17" OEM Rear Wheels Fit Up Front?

I know the later models have a bolt on the front rotor to keep you from installing the wider 18" rear rims. Do the early models have this?

Can the 17" rear rims be installed up front without creating clearance issues?

Both questions have been answered in the Top 100 Questions thread.

To recap - bolt has nothing to do with size. It's to keep you from rotating wheels because the tires are different diameter. OEM 17" wheels fit fine, even over Brembo rotors.

Yeah - two years and 1700 posts later, those are some pretty noobish questions.

Yeah, I read the Top 100 Questions, and I know about the purpose of the bolt. However, the threads there are from 2006 and 2009, and there's nothing in them that says the bolts are on the earlier models, which are the only ones that came with 17" rims.

So, my question is still not answered. Will the 17" rear rims fit the front without interfering with anything?

Here's why I want to know. I've found someone with some 17" rear rims that have a brand/model of tire I'm thinking about buying. I'd like to try them on the front of my car before buying a set in the proper size to fit my 18" front rims.

I figure someone here has probably installed (or tried to install) the rear 17" rims on the front, and maybe he'd just answer my question to save me some time and trouble.

The bolt is removeable and this question has already been answered:

Did you even try to search? that took me 10 seconds to find that.

Your question:

The simple answer is: “Yes, the stock 17” rear rims can be installed in the front.”

Additional comments…

Standard 17” wheels came as standard equipment on 350z Base and Enthusiast packages from 2003-2005. The Wheel/Tire specifications:

FRONT: Size: 17x7.5 -- Offset: +30mm -- Tire: 225/50/17
REAR: Size: 17x8.0 -- Offset: +33mm -- Tire: 235/50/17

Notice that the rear 17” stock wheel is ½” wider and has 3 mm more inset (positive offset). Those differences are not operationally significant.

Use a offset calculator to compare your current wheels to the new wheels. With the new dimensions, check the car with a tape. Do you clear the suspension, brakes calipers and fenders? Reference: http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

Yeah, I searched, but I got tired of reading stuff that didn't answer my question.

And I just searched again using the phrases "Will 17" rear wheels fit front" and "Will 17" rear rims fit front". I looked through all eleven pages of results, and neither search turned up the thread you linked started by cnc837 with the title "Will 4 17" rear OEM wheels fit???" Not close enough????

Then I tried searching with "Will 4 17" rear OEM wheels fit?", and it STILL DIDN'T show up. So, I then tried the exact thread title with all three question marks, and it finally showed up.

Maybe the search function works differently for you, but it's not much help for mere mortals.

Don't ask the search function a question, it's not Siri.

OK, so I dropped the "will" and just used "17" wheels fit front" (without the quotes, of course), and the post by cnc837 still doesn't show up on any of the seven pages of results.

Please tell me what search word(s) you used to get it in ten seconds. Even knowing the thread title, I can't seem to come up with anything that works other than the exact thread title complete with three question marks.

they wont fit you will rub, unless you run some camber and put a 205/30/17 to get a mild stretch. You have to make sure you use racing lugs you know because.....

I gave you the tool.
Spike100 gave you a detailed explanation.
Not certain why you continue continue to complain about the search function.
