Default Excessive Tire Noise

I have a 2003 Z Touring. Issue is that since I purchased the car back in April it has had a humming noise when driving. It's like when you have very aggressive tires on a truck. Tires are Toyo Proxy 2's. They have good tread. Noise is starting to get to me!

There will always be some noise that will bother you, I just changed my rear diff bushings and my car now has more road noise...simple fix, turn up the radio. Haha

If tires are severely worn or your alignment is out you will hear excessive road noise from the tires

I suggest having a competent shop inspect your tires, alignment, and in some cases Lower Control Arm bushings to see if any of those are the culprit

Sounds like tire feathering. I had the same thing on my 04 when I got it. Have an alignment done and have the tires looked at as mentioned.

Could be several things, as others have said tire feathering, Alignment, bushings gone bad or even the quality of the tires you have. I'm not to familiar with Toyo Proxies but I would read the reviews on tire rack or something to see if it is prone to road noise.

The 350z coupe is comparable to a mini-station wagon; the rear tire well is inside the vehicle. This arrangement sends tire noise a directly to the car’s interior (i.e., tire/road noise is very significant in the 350z coupe).

Installing sound deadening or mounting tires that run more quietly reduces the road noise, but you’re still inside a “station-wagon.”

The fix is a G35/37 or a Z roadster. These cars have the rear tires inside the trunk, and they have less road noise.

Tires will make more noise as they wear down. This happens because there is less room for the noise to escape from underneath the tire. Irregular wear will amplify this.
