Thanks man, I won 1st place in the Mild category ZDAYZ 2017. I've still got to get my ChargeSpeed CF skirts sprayed to match (they are tired) and mounted. Regarding your question- mb 3 1/2" to the lip, approximately 3/4" down from stock height.
Cheers!

Congrats man! Lucky you. Where I’m from the speed bumps are terrible but I’m trying to stay stock 18s, with minimal fender gap and have no scraping. From what it seems this is impossible and I should have gone 19s but I wanted meaty fitment. She’s back from the shop though!

The wheel diameter is of no consequence. If you get 18s, 19s, 20s whatever, you’re going to size the tires to still be the same as OE by varying the aspect ratio.

Example: 245/40-18, 245/35-19, 245/30-20 are all very close to the OE diameter but each with successively lower sidewalls.

Wheel gap can only be reduced/eliminated by lowering the car. Shorter tire increases gap, taller tire helps to decrease gap but raises the entire car.

The issue is with the width of my rear wheel. Ideally 275/40/18 would have kept me at stock OE diameter but I have an 11” rear wheel so that 275 tire will stretch and no longer be OE diameter once mounted. From there my options aren’t many. 305 and 315 only comes in drag radials which I don’t want.

295/30 seems a bit too short at 26.1” while OE is 26.7”. So I’m thinking 285/40 may be ok as it’s at 27” and after the little stretch it gets it may be close to OE after that. What are your thoughts ?

Thanks my friend, a lot of careful planning and detailing went with the luck. Just finishing up a Vortech V3 build, shooting for 485 hp. I may show in Z33 Wild this year but the prep is a PITA!
I like your car's front end. See my edit above regarding chasis height. The thing is if you go an inch larger wheel and tire your profile should change from 40 to 35 to maintain approximately the same diameter tire. I chose to stay with 18s because 19s will almost always have a heavier tire/wheel weight. More rotating mass = less nimble.

Sweet! That’s next on my list. I’m about to convert her from auto to manual and then I’ll be saving up for the SC. I’m guessing you’re going forged internals as well?

Those were my thoughts when going 18s as well. I do a lot of autox so the lighter wheel weight will give me an advantage.

the donor for the conversion 350Zs are very rare where I’m from so I had to go through a lot of trouble to get one. So I wasn’t picky if it was auto or manual. Imported an entire car from Japan in pieces as a donor for the gearbox.

Damm, nice donor!
Nope, the tuner at Z1 has known me/my car for years. Stock heads and internals for this build. He has a national reputation for building/tuning VQ35s. He spec'd Z1 test pipes and I called Fast Intentions to build on demand a 3" true dual Stainless exhaust.
Other than that I'll have a boost guage which doubles as an engine saver called a AEM Wideband FailSafe. Not only does it save datalogs but if the fuel/air ratio goes past a certain lean point it limits rpm and alerts me. Engine saver! For $275 it's a really sweet toy!

yes I scrape every so often but depends how tall the speed bump is small speed bumps I don’t scrape medium I will scrap somewhat but I always choose an alternate route so I don’t hit any speed bumps, my cars pretty slammed for being on lowering springs. The real problem is rubbing, the 245/40 in the fronts rub on my fenders quite often, so much that my renders rolled themselves lol I’ll eventually go more stretch maybe a 225/40 or 35 series

285/40 will work fine. Just a bit taller by about 8mm but should work just fine. Problem with that size, not a lot of tire selection (compared to 275s). Maybe where you are, they're more readily available? Anyways, go back to post #11 to see what I said then about the sizes you're considering.

For visual effect (never mind they're 19s, irrelevant - shown for section and wheel width perspective) - Rears only since that's all we're discussing here:

275/35-19 on 19x10.5 +9 effective offset. Car is lowered 19mm. Fenders rolled & sealed, NO interference ever.

This size fit on an 11" would pull the tire - as you can see, this one appears a tiny bit stretched. But not a visual nor performance distraction.

285/35-19 on 19x10.5 +23 - no interference (and there's space to bring down the offset another 8-10mm with no interference).

And just to show the wheel gap. 275/35-19

285/35-19 (visual of 285/40-18 would be near the same.... you couldn't tell if I didn't say it I'm betting. So, if you can find 285/40s, no problem

just an update, she’s out of the paint shop and I fixed my NATS issue (BCM, ECU, antenna, key and key cylinder replaced) and she’s finally back on the road! Fitment is more or less perfect. Getting some rub on the left side but nothing on the right. Thinking I may need to roll the fender a bit more.

haha this is so perfect. I’m looking for the perfect wheel and tire set up and you have the exact wheels as me haha. So you ended up going 295/35/18? How you liking the aspect ratio of 35? Too harsh?

I did go with the 295/35/18s like you guys suggested and I’m VERY happy with everything. The left rear was rubbing while the right wasn’t, had the fender rolled and pushed out a bit more today and no more rubbing! Went 245/40 up front cuz 255 was difficult to get but everything looks good. Missed driving her so much. AND it actually clears all the speed bumps I tried so far which is amazing.
