anyone notice a rattling sound
Have you guys notice that the Z has a grinding sound when the car sits on Idle after a long drive??? it sounds like something is rattling and grinding coming out from the Clutch or transmission, and if you turn off the car you'll notice a metal to metal rattling sound before the car shuts off. My cars now has 16000 miles.
Also have you guys notice when you step on the clucth all the way when the car is in idle after a long drive, you heard a chattering, clicking noise and if you give a little gas you'll heard it gets louder.

I had similar problem. IF I sit at Idle with the clutch let out in neutral, there is a rattling. If you push and hold the clutch in, it goes away. Just so you know, I had my Tranny replaced on my 03 at 17K miles. IF you have any shifting (difficulty getting into any gear) problems at all, bring it in,they may just replace the tranny for you. This is a common problem.

No shifting problems, but the engine always made alot of mechanical sounds. In fact, one of the reviews I read back in 2003 mentioned something about the mechanical sounds.
I also notice that unlike my BMW, my Z is a horrible downshifter into 2nd from 3rd...
Sounds like Granny Clampetts model T...
However, all this is drowned out by the soiund of my squeaky seats.

Does your grinding sound happen after your car sits for a few mins... then you start back up? Mine does....Going in next week to be looked at . Never happens with a cold start.

My tranny and clutch was replaced about a month ago and still makes the noise. I think I'll go bring it back. Just haven't gone yet because school, can't afford anymore down time without having my car.

I have a rattling noise when i start up the car and when the rpm drops. I think it's only with a cold start. I also just experiended some rattling/vibration as I started driving in reverse and in first gear, but then it went away.
