I asked you earlier about what did you base on when you bought your Z. Obviously you're not looking for the same things that a lot of us do. And that's why you made your choice on the AT. Good for you...

Whenever I drove in Hell [Manhattan] I only used one rule...
Drive like a taxi, only faster.
Note: NYC jaywalkers only watch out for 2 things, FDNY trucks and '92 full-size Chevy blazers!

This thread is too funny. Some of these little pimply faced teens think they got some nuts cause they drive a manual
These are the same goofs who will be at Nissan replacing their tranny after 25K miles cause they cant shift for s**t. If you really need to debate this topic, than you shouldnt be driving.

Why do you a 1993 RX-7 still sells for over 20k on ebay?
A man educating their kids, about how a Nissan AT is more reliable than their MT.

1) +1
2) There are a lot of stupid people in this World
3) +1
4) Your opinion is noted
The auto works just fine for me - no compensation going on here... and I agree, whatever works best for you. Me, I happen to be a coffeeholic, I should own stock in both Caribou AND Starbucks, and it's a hell of a lot easier to negotiate traffic in town (Chicago) and drink coffee if you don't have to worry about shifting... driving a Z is a blast, I'm sure, no matter which trans you have. It's all good, is how I see it.
gawd you gotta love these dumbass threads.... some genius posts some inane garbage and people flock to the thread just to sling shiot at each other.... it's hilarious.... people should be able to spot flamer threads a mile away and just let them drop off the radar.... but nooooooo..... I might as well join the fun...
**** or no ****... you decide!!!
the large majority of people who own manuals are just as terrible at driving as most people who own automatics.... except the people with manuals have their errors exaggerated 10fold....while at least the automatic guys can mask their noobishness.
Keep it up guys!
Keep this thread running strong!

comedy. Amazing some people actually think one's choice in transmission has anything to do with ones masculinity. That attitude goes real well with ringer t-shirts, backwards baseball caps, and tribal armband tattos. But that's pretty much it. In the real world, you do what ever makes you happy.

So for the original poster. What is your intention for the car? If you'd like to drive the wheels off her, feel the rush of taking mountain roads while integrating all of your appendages with the car and working your entire body, and pulling all you can from your machine, by all means buy a manual. EDIT FOR HDPD: But be careful, if you don't know what you're doing, you might spray that tranny all over the road.
If you'd like to use your car as a daily driver with occasional onramp blasts and strong highway speeds, take the automatic.
Automatics and manuals, in this day and age where an automatic is often a no cost or negligible-cost option, the decision essentially comes down to your intentions with the car.

I think i know what the problem is.
The Z is an excellent sports car. The purpose of a sports car is to get the maximum driving enjoyment out of a car. In order to achieve this you most likely want total control of every aspect of the car, steering, brakes, engine, and yes transmission. So lets face it a manual is ideal.
However, the Z is als an excellent grand tourer. GT's are built to cruise at high speeds, corner well and look beautiful, all while providing reasonable driver comfort. Automatics now days have very little performance penalty. If you're going for GT an automatic makes sense, as the performance compromise is more than made up for by the added comfort of not having to shift every few seconds.
The problem is that the Z is such a good, versitile car. I used to cringe when i saw people with auto Z's. Then i bought one and realized that in addition to being a sports car it was also a GT. I'm still happy i bought a manual, but hey drive what you like.

Indian Doctors Reattach Mob Victim's ***** After Seven-Hour Surgery
NEW DELHI — An Indian man who was attacked and mutilated by a group of people with an AT vs MT grudge had successful seven-hour *****-reattachment surgery, a news report said Sunday.
The unidentified 28-year-old man was assaulted in an unidentified town about 125 miles from New Delhi, the Times of India reported.
Despite taking nearly six hours to reach a hospital in New Delhi, doctors were able to reattach the severed organ because it was properly preserved in ice after the attack.
The surgery lasted seven hours, the report quoted Dr. Aditya Agarwal, who performed the operation, as saying.
"I am able to do all the things a normal person does, and I am very grateful to the doctors," the man was quoted as saying.
He said that he had an old dispute over AT vs MT with his attackers.
B.K. Rao, a top official at Sir Gangaram Hospital where the surgery took place, hailed the successful operation. "It has given back a young man his life and his social status" he said.

This thread has certainly gone downhill. I had never driven stick before buying my M/T Z. I could simply not bring myself to purchase a sports car with an auto. To me, an A/T takes the sports out of the sports car. That is my opinion. I also agree with the person that says an A/T takes the fun out of the car.
