Alarm system light
I assume we will have a flashing red light somewhere in the Z to let would be theives know there is an alarm system. Has anyone seen this light anywhere? I really like the cars that have it on top of the door lock on both doors, that makes it very easily seen.
All the Nissans we own have the blinking red light, as well as one of the interior temperature sensors (for the max and Z with Auto climtate control), near the front windshield AC vents, about 2 inches from the window itself. Very visible, i think.
I could swear someone posted a picture of it recently, but I cant remember for sure.
I'm 90% sure it's on the doors upper sill right where it meets the window, next to where your shoulder would be. If you've seen an Audi TT, exactly like that.

Not sure this helps, I looked but couldn't find it. If you haven't already, take a look at the QTVR 360 video of the interior on the nissandriven site:

I'll see if I have any dash photos that show the light.
It might not be on any pre-production models, but it was on the Pike Peaks white at Fudruckers. I asked the Nissan guy if a proper alarm was standard equipment and he *said* yes. I hope he's right.

Thanks for the good news. I guess I need to get my perception corrected. Any good perception correction Drs. out there?
At least I know where to mount my compass.
Now, where is the ash tray?

The light is on the top of the dash, not the front. This video doesn't provide any angle that *could* see it.

It sure looks like perfect position for the shift ****, as many have posted.

Okay, see the windishield defrost vent in front of the driver? Just to the left of that is an oval shape. Barely discernable. If that isn't the alarm flasher, then its very close to that location.
I'm really glad we got the shift **** issue cleared up.
Todd, you and Brain are talking about two different things now. He's talking about not seeing the alarm light from the 360degree video and you are still thinking about the cutaway shift ****.

Cool stuff. I cannot wait!

In the same place as the oval cutout just to the left of the defroster vent in the pic, my car has this little light sensor. It automatically dims the dash lights depending on how light it is outside. Don't know about the Z but it kind of looks like that on my Stealth.

Is the alarm audible? Is it connected to the horn of the vehicle or an independent horn? I didn't see any alarm buttons on the keychain controller.
I know it has the imobilizer chip, but is that what everyone is referring to as the alarm? My instinct tells me no...please clarify thanks!

The immobilizer is proactive, versus reactive. Okay, it's really reactive to a problem, but proactive to someone starting your car and taking off. I love that idea.
