Default How long will my car last with new motor

So i started thinking today about when i would have to get rid of the Z....and i came to a thought.

If i replace the clutch, and were to rebuild the motor at say 100k. Is there any reason why it cant last "forever" (a long time) say 100 more. I know i might need a new trany. What else? Is there any reason why i cant drive the Z for the next 10-15 years and just upgrade everything in it.

That's crossed my mind before too, just because of the color...which I don't think I'll ever be able to buy again in the future.

well technically if your not too rough, it might even last over 150k with a stock engine and tranny, hell my freinds maxima lasted till 165k, and prolly more but he sold it at that point....who knows.

the key is don't crash it and wreck the frame...money can fix almost anything and given cars still operate that were built in the early 1900's I am sure the Z can last 100 years.

When I bought the Z, I kept my '93 Pathfinder which had 310,000 miles on it. Besides oil, fuel, and tires I've spent less than $1500 on it in 14 years. I love that vehicle. I would have bought a new one if they still had the same body style and everything. But things wear besides the engine, tranny, and clutch. The leather seats are about done and wear and time take tolls on exhaust manifolds, shocks, ball joints, radios & speakers, and seals.

If I don't get 200,000 miles out of the Z I will be very disappointed. At the rate I'm going, that is only 7-8 years away. Just play it by ear, but I think you are underestimating the longevity of your car if you don't abuse it.

ECZA Brenner Show, PA. 07/2005

There are original Zs, such as those above, that have been on the road for 34 years. With proper care, I’m sure that the 350Z motor will last 15 years.

Rebuild at 100K???

If you simply follow the minimum maintenance schedule in the Owner's Manual, it should last AT LEAST 250K!

I think driving it hard in the way it was built for isn't abuse. I still think you will be surprised at its longevity.

If you drive as hard as you make it sound above, sounds like you & the Z might go at the same time.

I was thinking the same thing. I'm just taking notes on who says they drive fast, hoping not to come on here and see another "I just suicide wrapped my Z, hooray!"

I hope i never post it. It's good advise. But this is not about driving fast. Just assume its on the track. or a closed road. Half the reason i bought the z was i knew i was going to drive it hard. My Friend has an evo and the same miles as me, he has gone through a clutch, he is burning oil. its a mess.

So far the Z takes it and smiles. I can hardly even get the temp to rise above normal. Only when i push really really hard does it happen....and its only by a hair, and even then when i back off for 1 min or so it drops.
