I doubt the MT will go away anytime soon. There are many drivers who enjoy shifting and pressing a clutch pedal. The MT is an inexpensive solution that provides a thrill that experienced (and new for that matter) drivers enjoy.
Heck... Porsche cannot get their market to move past the 911 rear-engine car with all its handling and transmission quirks. They still make this thing and people line up to buy it.

The 350z MT is a breeze to drive, feels like any other MT car att low speeds. As for MT being exotic, I would have to say that statement is totally incorrect, atleast here in sweden. Every car is a MT, and everyone knows how to drive them. If you cant, it would be as if you were handicapped.
As for the Porsche 911s, I would pick one over a Z any day, atleast the GT2, GT3, Turbo models etc.

If it were a perfect world, truth be told I'd probably have an auto DD, or at least something like a civic, since I had one as a previous DD and the clutch was light as a feather. The Z isn't so bad though. I find it more than tolerable, and I drive uphill with a billion stoplights, and then up a mountain (no joke, haha) to get to school.
In a prefect world, Ohio wouldn't be so flat with straight roads... Lol!
Seriously, the Z's clutch is pretty light. And the mechanical feel of the shifter adds to the overall experience IMO.
The manual tranny in my Civic is supah slick, light and easy to work. What a bore!

03's have and even stiffer clutch and an even notchier shifter than 04s and everything after...FYI. It's precise, and unforgiving, the way a manual tranny on a weekend track worhty car should be....End

IMO the Z's tranny feels better than my bud's 06 Carrera S just MO.
Clutch being to heavy... Ha! Try driving a ATS triple carbon clutch.
6 speed is the only way to handle anything over 500hp
Sports Cars are all about feeback. The suspension, steering, & even the chassis. Why would the clutch and shifter be any different. It is very hard to track a car with a sloppy soft clutch and a slippery shifter efficiently. Nissan has always strived for the Z car to be a formidable track star.

First thing, about the firmness on the Z's clutch, i have never had a problem with it, in my opinion it's quite light. I have a 2004 Touring and i can't imagine it ever being AT. I Live in Okinawa, Japan. Here I own a 91 Skyline GTR, Now my GTR is a blast to drive, however I really do feel people forget how fun the Z is to drive.
To be perfectly honest, I would take my Z over my GTR any day. The torque, the handling characteristics are all just wonderful. not to mention all the looks we all KNOW we get
Let me ask you AT guys this, have you driven the MT and if so do you regret not getting that, or do you actually prefer the AT. If so, why? I hate to repeat it but rev-matching, and accelerating all the way through a corner without a hint of lag is absolute bliss.
