I know I am not answering your question... but I was curious to know how the Bose system actually sounds when it is working optimally... I have a touring on order and am hoping that the sound system is gonna be good enough that I won't have to dump it.

Default Well...

Like with all BOSE systems there is a break-in period... It sounded lousy for the first few songs but it is getting better with more usage.. Just the auto volume and auto loudness functions are a little annoying.. Some will like and some won't... wait and see...
I much prefer to listen to the exhaust note anyways.... very cool.....

Break in period? Are you serious? I've never heard of this before for a stereo. Can you explain further?

All speakers require a burn in time, usually of about 20-40 hours to sound their fullest. With a lower quality system suchas the Bose, the difference is usually greater.

Thanks Brad4rd. I honestly never heard of this before. So, when you talk about the "difference" in the Bose system, are you referring to the sound quality before and after breaking it in?

Yes, and NEVER let your CD drive spin any faster than 4000 RPM's while in the breakin period. Also, I recommend using synthetic CD lube!

You're probably also one of those guys that thinks using different wires can make speakers sound better.

No, he's right. Just like a car, it takes time for the motors, etc, to get broken in on a brand new pair of speakers.

Breakin periods for speakers are a well-known occurrence in the audio world. If you read any reviews you'll hear how you shouldn't drive them hard until they're broken in, just like a car.

what would be a fair amout of break-in time nizl? I have never heard of this before and being that i'm going to stick with the BOSE system for awhile, i want it to sound the best.

Oh Im sory, do you have any experience here, have you read any books on the subject, look I dont want to sound like an arogant a**hole, but I'm not just making this stuff up. I love electronics just as much as I love cars. I think youd agree with me that Nissan is justified with having a break in period. While the differences may not be substantial, the engine is a finely crafted peice equipment...but the the average joe, they would think were nuts waiting 1000 miles, driving at lower speeds, no constant RPMs, changing the oil ect multiple times and only using mineral based for the first 3000 ect.... So, try not to roll your smiley eyes and just respect the fact that Im not gonna pull anyones chain here just too look smarter. Im not that guy. Sory, thats my rant for the night.

As far as the Bose system is concerned, again, as with most car stereos, Bose or not, its not the highest quality parts, so the differences will vary. Basicaly, speakers are designed and listened to by the designers after the speaker has broken in, so it usually sounds best once it is, and may sound a little "stiff" when new. Just play and enjoy music on the system alot and you may start to notice a difference.

ok....but i still don't understand how him talking about wires leads you talking about break in periods.

When you don't want to start a flaming war, please try not to respond in a demeaning manner. Like what i did to your post. Lets keep it civil. Sometimes when one reads a post, they interpert(sp) differently than the writer.

I apoligize for my preivous post. Your post just seemed so out of place.

Dan

Hey man its ok, I felt kinda bad too, and I dont want z350z to take it personally, I just get that alot when you talk about speaker wires and break in periods actually having affects, people laugh and roll threir eyes, just like some would when you say that using wheels that are 5 lb lighter can have an affect on performance. That kinda thing...

The system has a mic in the cabin that measures backround noise, when the cabin gets noisier, it raises the volume. Can't, at least from the controls given, be switched off.
