Swapped out headunits for a newer Alpine single din, and put this JBL Basspro Hub in. After considering all of my options for locations I choose to go with this as it definitely helps with looks and space. Its a 200W RMS powered subwoofer (they make a 600W one for use with an external AMP) and i'm pretty happy with the results. Is it INSANE bass? No. Does it pack a pretty good punch? Absolutely.
I've got a similar small powered sub in one of my vehicles. Nothing that is going to shake your mirror or set off car alarms, but it does help out with the low end.
I used that JBL BassHub Pro in our Volvo V70R - it's a good solution to round out the bass without intruding into the cabin space.
On my Z, however, I went with 2 Infinity 10" subs in a JL Audio Stealthbox. It sits between the bulkhead and the rear strut tower brace. That setup kicks a bit harder harder 😉

so this sub is held in place by the spare rim center bolt? Have you upgraded the door speakers and if so do you have them hooked up to an amp? I been trying to figure out what I want to do in my Z. I dont want a box and im not looking for crazy bass. This JBL set up you have looks basic and seems like what im looking for

-Yes it is
-No, I have not (yet)
-No, I will not be hooking my door speakers to an amp.
If you're looking for additional bass without losing space and don't need anything insane: I feel like this is a great solution.
Not my personal 350Z, but I pulled some goodies off this chassis for my Z a few weekends back. I couldn't help but notice the previous owner of this Z was once a Z Car Garage customer, the 510 area code being east SF bay. Maybe they are or were a member of these forums? Whoever they are, Thank You for being respectful when the engine was pulled (looked to have been removed with the trans before the Z was put in the yard), a lot of time/effort went into carefully disconnecting the harness from the entire engine & trans. Because of this, I was also able to pick up some good wire harness pig tails that would usually be destroyed or unusable because of the lack of respect most pickers in Pick N Pull tend to exhibit. Case in point, I couldn't help but notice someone cut the main harness bundle right at the PCM under the dash... in order to remove the PCM easier...I think? Seriously? You couldn't take the few seconds to unlatch the harness and then take the PCM? That one act basically destroyed what was a perfectly good engine harness, oh well, at least I don't feel bad about cutting off some pigtails from it now.
I also got a near perfect condition rear view mirror with Homelink and Antiglare features (Score! ). Yes, I think I might have a small obsession with Z33s, this one left me feeling nostalgic, it's the same color and year as mine, just an AT instead of 6MT.
Cheers!
-Icer ZCG sticker and (510) area code in evidence. VIN Plate.

Do you pick parts and sell them on eBay? That's what I do with Miatas.
No, I don't resell or flip pulled parts. I only go to Pick N Pull type yards for specific parts I need for personal use. But you never know, sometimes If I do see a good part that I know will move quick, I might ****** it up to resell. It's a cut-throat business model, usually the vultures who resell on ebay and such descend on popular imports the same day they're put in the yard. You have to be very quick to react to get the best pieces and I simply don't have a flexible enough schedule to drop everything I'm doing and rush to the yard with my tools. I've gone a few times with my Z32 buddy and man oh man are those cars getting picked clean fast nowadays!
Cheers!

I buy whole wrecked Miatas from Copart (I have a dealer license) and part them out at my shop. That's the only way to really make any money doing it.
At first I thought the leak was power steering fluid, but looking under the engine the rack, hoses and pump all seem to be free of any leaks (or at least of any leaks that would result in the amount of oil I had seen). I wiped everything down after I took the video and took a couple of pictures, too. I had a 2001 VW Jetta where I had to replace a failed o-ring gasket behind the oil cooler - is that a similar potential sourcee of a leak in this case on the Z ?
**edit** OK, yeah, I found where there is a similar o-ring gasket between the oil cooler and the block. I've added that to my latest RockAuto order and should have that in a few days. The Z is due for an oil change, anyway, so the timing works out well to replace it. **
Another thing I tackled was to use a plastic hot stapler to fix some cracks on the engine splash shield.
What a coincidence. I also just picked up a plastic welder and used it for the 1st time on Z stuff. Works great! Very solid repair. For the pieces I used it on, I would actually recommend putting some in as insurance (even if yours are intact) since these corners on the tweeter covers love to break under normal use/operation. A few of these wire stitches/staples and it should last forever.
Khnitz, for the oil leak, I'm glad you figured it out. That's one of the more rare leak areas, but not unheard of. I suspect it's just an age thing. You store the car in the winter months right? That may contribute as well. Hoping the new O-rings resolve the issue. I had a very similar leak develop on the wife's Acura RDX. The original gaskets had just hardened up from age/use, I had also switched to high-mileage oil (M1 HM) in the RDX days before the filter bracket seals started to leak. I'm no longer using high-mileage oil anymore. For those that don't know, many high-mileage oils have an additive package in it that makes rubber seals/gaskets swell. I suspect this effect coupled with the age of the seals worked against me (swollen seal broke any bond it had to the mating surfaces). Seems counter-intuitive I know, but dig into it and you find there is some correlation with M1 HM oil and leaks.
Pictures!
Cheers!
-Icer Tool-kit I picked up from Amazon. Repair after rolling over the staples with the hot knife/spatula thing and cleaning up the high spots from the staple stems. It looks worse that it is Face of the tweeter covers. These are hidden by the rubber pocket/cup. Some evidence of super-glue I used to hold the pieces together before installed the staples.
